Head gasket leaking is so rarely just a head gasket, expecially on an ISX motor. Get it down, then find out a cracked head (now $3-8K) or cracked liner .
The down side, is a truck with an ISX motor problem will almost kill all the value in most trucks. And really worthless if tore down just to find out how bad.

Next truck, I'd stay away from ISX motor.

Thanks, and I agree. No more ISX's for me. I'm going to my mechanic tomorrow and see what he says. I am afraid if they do take off the head that they may indeed find bad valves or cams or liners. I'll find out more tomorrow. Thanks for the advice guys. Rob out.

If the engine stopped turning over when you were trying to start it, you may also have a bent rod from hydro locking.

If no isx, and no cat, what's left? Maxxforce? Detroit? Volvo? Paccar?

En route to Newport News earlier today. Had a Mercer guy get in behind me off of an exit. Both going to the same place. I set my cruise at 70 and we ease down the road. 40 miles from town he flies by me doing 80, and stays on it. He did this specifically to unload ahead of me.

Now normally, I say whatever and shrug it off. This really got under my skin. If he gets a ticket it affects all of us. Our CSA score for the company gets worse. Getting ahead of me just tells me the guy is an a hole. But the speed8ng like that with an o.d. load on pissed me off.

I dont call in and tattle, and Im not gonna start now. Just irritating.

you should at least call and talk to his coordinator. you aint got to call safety but there are ways to handle it. did ya tell him when ya got to the unloading site?

I might lay odds he drove for a fleet owner, most of us paying for the fuel aint driving around like maniacs.

just chalk it up to the fact his name is probably Richard Head.

I wont call anyone, not the way to handle it. He came up and tried to be buddy-buddy. I just told him he was an idiot for the risk he took just to get ahead of me. Hell, if he asked I would have let him ahead of me as we got close to here. Guess theres one in every bunch.

Well I would not say no to a cat for the right price. But detroit and volvo are on the list. I'm going to look at a 97 century with a detroit and a 98 fld with a 3406e tomorrow. If I don't like those there are a few egr ones I will consider. 1 columbia with a benz motor that has been overhauled. Another 2007 columbia with a 14l detroit with 720k on it, though that has an auto which I don't like. And a 2007 volvo with a volvo motor and a 13sp. I am still waiting for my mechanics diagnosis on the vibration first before I decide anything. I never said thanks for your prayers by the way. Rob
