I would have to agree they were looking for a reason. We've had linehaul drivers get in accidents on my lane and still have a job. That's really surprising since nobody wants to work here and other LTL companies are hurting for drivers too. That guy will get hired real quick here by another LTL. Heard OD hired a guy who got fired by CWF. Amazing!

Lol almost any LTL will hire if you were canned from CWF. They all know how they can be
Radman Thanks this. -
Haha! Yeah just like when I came out of foodservice. They know how rough of a job it is.
Good for those guys in Laredo to go Union cause CWF is like the military.cool35 Thanks this. -
I never did understand those food service companies. Either you have to pay them to unload you or throw the load yourself. What makes them so special? All their dock guys do is just drive around and do nothing, must be nice

You can bet that it makes financial sense, to the companies that use lumpers. They just contract out to a lumper service. They don't have to worry about all of the BS that comes from having their own employes. Things such as with-holdings, Worker's Compensation, even the I-9 that employers are required to have on all employes. They don't have to give them any benefits. It saves a heck of a lot of paperwork to contract out that labor. It sucks, but there it is.

most trucking companys are the lumpers of freight moving. Same game diffrent field. Unless you run exsclusivly for the comapany that pays you, (all your freight is your companys product) you are a trucking lumper.
sorry but its true

I agree big don. And they take money from the the lumper a so pretty much they get reimbursed for the freight thy they just bought. Even the places where there is no union and just dock workers no lumbers, they still make you pay to be unloaded. But according to my boss the bill goes to the shipper. That food place is normally fast, the off load you and your out. If there's visible damages they just take it off and send it back with you. Another place, you have to unload the skids yourself, but that's it, just unload it and they sign.
One place is a union place where all their lumbers got the nice electric machines and shrink wrappers and drivers aren't allowed to use any and do it all manually. Then company has their dock workers who are getting paid brain surgeon bucks to drive around oversized shopping carts acting like supervisors. Must be nice.Big Don Thanks this. -
My last week as a linedriver. Then going to P&D. BTW, creepy Shaggy is coming out of the penalty box. Please welcome him back!
ACH1130, Shaggy and Marksteven Thank this. -
Wow! Was it his first problem with the company? Down at my yard it's almost impossible to get fired and we aren't union. We sure have a lot of people quit though. Lot's of loud arguments with management too and not even a write up!

A day from hell today. Had 2 inside deliveries one for cheesecake factory and other for sally beauty. Man am I shot. Then my clever dispatcher adds more stops COMPLETELTLY out of my area. Those came back. Along with a few others that I could not get to due to early closings and being given early pickups. Oh well.
As crazeydude says.... Sitting at home depot here in Coram
