You don't need a twic card to go into rail yards. I go to the Norfolk Southern Harrisburg, Rutherford, and Greencastle intermodal rail yards and they don't require a twic card and neither does the CSX intermodal yards in Chambersburg and Baltimore.
Do Intermodal companies hire new (no experience) drivers?

To answer your question OP regarding the rail side of intermodal is that unless you are dealing with a ma and pa outfit hauling containers out of the rail yard they all want prior driving experience. Transcorp Express is the only company that does haul containers that will hire a driver out of school in Harrisburg PA...I seriously seriously would not hire a newbie right out of school for this job though. You really need to know how to do 90 degree backing and be able to do it quickly and be able to drive through the rail yards when the packers and yard jockies are flying around and huddled together.

This topic should probably be moved to the intermodal forum.
