# 1, drive your truck the way you feel is safe for you, do not let the speed balls push you. and if you do not feel safe then stop & park

if your wheels are spinning at a dead stop...don't go to granny low try a higher gear and no throttle just clutch to get out of the pickle...
damutt and TheDude1969 Thank this. -
If you need to take the shoulder, or get off ramp, choose a decline. You may never get it rolling on an incline.

Extra food, water, and clothes.
Sleeping bag - just in case you're shut down AND the engine fails.
Full of fuel, DEF, coolant - and plan your fuel stops AHEAD of time.
Good jacket, good gloves.
Check chains, and chain law.
And, as the NOAA, and any other road condition tool will tell you . . .
"Motorists are advised to delay travel if possible" - Don't get out there unless you're equipped to deal with the conditions, which you ARE already aware of.Hammer166 and TheDude1969 Thank this. -
If the wheel tracks are glazed, you can dramatically increase traction by shifting your position to put your tires on undriven portions of the road. This can really save your bacon if traffic starts to stop on an upgrade, as stopping on the glazed pavement almost guarantees you'll be spinning out when traffic starts to move again.
southtruck, Skate-Board, TheDude1969 and 4 others Thank this. -
Yup!!! Big time. Done that many times.TheDude1969 and Hammer166 Thank this. -
Take as much hometime as you can afford.
Seriously some good tips here but mainly for newbies.....don't let dispatch who is sitting in a temperature controlled cubicle pressure you into doing anything outside your comfort zone.blairandgretchen, Skate-Board, Moving Forward and 2 others Thank this.
