and haven't kept up in the last 2 weeks, but must say I am totally disappointed in your report of week 17. Your admission to such selfish moves such as slapping a lock on an empty trailer and sending mt calls when not mt are no different to me than the hand who parks on the fuel island and goes to take a dump.
both are against company policy and both are c***blocking a deserving driver from being able to get another load after successfully UNLOADING his trailer. just because you "get antsy" does not give you the right to take an mt trailer out of service when other drivers who have a load offering are seeking one. if you dont want to have to make 'that call' to dispatch to explain why you actually HAVEN'T unloaded even though you sent an mt call, then just maybe, as policy requires, you STOP sending in premature mt calls (I'm really ticked and would love to make a joke about that but I'll restrain myself).
Though I'm happy to see Crete still has miles available to drivers, I'm done reading your thread.bb.

i am intrested in Crete and applied online. I started trucking school this monday ( may 5th ) and graduate on june 27. I have a unsafe speed vioaltion from 2003 it has almost been 5 years ( just a few months away ). Will this stop them from hiring fresh out of school? I also have a weed charge ( small amt less then a ounce) from 1997 ( no conviction ). Will this bar from employment ? The school I attend is a pre- approved school . Thanks
-
AFAIK, if there is no conviction, it never happened. I've never been asked "have you ever been arrested" - I've only been asked "have you ever been convicted". Your mileage may vary, of course.
-
I won't jinx you and welcome you here until you graduate and clear all the hurdles of becoming a Crete driver, Best 'o luck. The easiest way to succeed here, especially as a new driver, is to learn to do it the "crete" way. Best 'o Luck
As for me, I hate to say it, but it's still going good. Had my first back to back -3000 mile week- in who knows how long. Turned 7300+ miles in 15 days. Never sat more than 15 min waiting for a load. And the truck is still running good...I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that.

Sometimes I think people get on this forum and just make things up. Why do you want to be a professional truckdriver anyway? If you have an unsafe violation and a "weed" charge in your recent past, you will likely have the same problems in your future. Crete hires the "BEST" qualified drivers, I hope you move on down the road. (Swift maybe) -
rr, so your A Saint ? c'mon pause for a moment.
given the avg. age of drivers out here, i would bet that at least half have tried a gong-ja/mary jane, reefer.
and some may even have some histories in their past
your statment gave me the impression you only want perfect drivers working for/at Crete
i think we need to be tolerant of less than perfect ppl proven they can handle / do the JOB.. -
have a small weed charge or not? How can you have a charge if you weren't convicted? Wouldn't the charge have been dropped?
Also, if it is in your permanent record I personally would be straight up with them and tell them you used to but not now. But first, you should pull a national background check on yourself just to be sure. -
This is such a retarded statement that I had to post. I used to drink HEAVY to bury alot of crap. When I had my first kid, I thought about the worst things I hated about my father and the #1 thing I didn't want to pass down was the alchololic tendencies. So does that mean I am destined to be a drunk at some later point in life...because I used to be? I have an unsafe(to most) in 04 does that mean I will have one again??? I also had something like 13 or 14 speeding tickets from 1991-1996(only 2 since), but does this too mean I am doomed?!?!? Give me a break!
Yes Crete "hires the best" but I guarantee their are a few that have slipped through the cracks and been great employees for Crete.
Plus if you did any figuring at all...dude was 17 and it is probably on his juvenile record (the weed charge). -
I have been with Crete since october of '07. I'm on the National fleet and most of my runs have been East, Midwest and South. I have however had 2 coast to coast runs, I ran 1 ld from California to Tampa and the other from Ontario Cal. to Edison, N.Jersey. Both times I had a coast to coast run, I carried a load from Ar to Ca. I run out of the Knoxville terminal, my hometown is Nashville so it makes sense when I go on the road after hometime my runs start out in this area, I have noticed over a period of time that I seem to travel in a large circle covering an area from Tn to TX up to WI across to the NY area down to FLA. I usually stay out a month at a time because it seems the longer I stay out the better the runs get.

It is a sad driver that screws his co workers out of an mt, when they might need it to get home or even just to get some miles. I have personally busted two lock in the crete yard when jerks put fake seals and padlocks on to save an mt.
These are the kind of driver I will never help. Hope I meet you in person sometime at the yard so I can share my opinion of your behaviour.
There are no shortage of losers with crete. When I joinied I thought they were a cut above, but crete is changing fast and hiring below standard people.
Our freight has also changed. In only the 4 months I have worked for crete I have seen a drastic change in the quality of freight that we handle. in the past month they have started buying junk freight that picks up and delivers in less than quality places. In the past we only handled forturne 500 companies.
Not only that ! it seems that more drivers are playing tattle tail on anyone that does not do things their way. Just the other day I received a message to put my enforcer lock on. Problem was...it was already on. they said a driver called it in.
what a bunch of sissys. Just drive safe, mind your business and count your money. It is that simple.
Crete is by no means the perfect company, but it does seem to have less problems than others I have worked for.
