Well, after 12 years of chasing the zipper around the southwest, I am taking the plunge and heading to North Dakota to haul crude oil. Everyone here in So. Cal. says I am crazy. Oh well! I figure a couple of years of these wages will make up for it. Anyone out there got any tips? I will be in the Ross area starting this Saturday.
Anyone have any tips, or warnings, I would love to hear them. I will try to keep information flowing.

I seen their ad where I live too and thought about it but I think I would prefer a warmer climate than ND. Bring lots of clothes, layers work best for staying warm.

Good luck up there, would be interested in hearing about your experience.

They are making good money in South Texas as well. Many people do not make it through their first winter in North Dakota. I deliver in Fargo, driving up from Texas, every Thursday morning. Late November the temperature will drop below freezing and it will not rise above freezing again until late March or early April. That cold will kill you in minutes, be careful. That harsh climate is not for everyone but you never know until you try it out for yourself. You can't beat the summers up there though. May through September is heaven on Earth in the upper midwest. Lows in the 50's highs in the 80's.

Many guys hook up with an Eskimo woman who chews on your frozen leather boots so you can put them on. Hope this helps.

Being a Californian, You're lucky you got hired. A lot of the companies weren't hiring people outside of the Midwest because they were bailing because of Winter.

North Dakota is like the #### Moon, think long and hard before going, especially this time of year. Be ready to have your soul crushed by the infamous ND winter.

I'm up in Williston, ND all the time hauling pipe to them. I've talked to tons and tons of young guys. They all have a goal and their gone. I met one who had been there almost 2 years and had $90,000 in the bank and was ready to head home to Maine, buy a house and could then survive on a local job. I could write a book on that place with everything I've seen over the years and the people I've talked to.
