Epes has a terminal in Chester.
Not a bad starter outfit and they have many that stay there long term. Good equipment, solid trainers, no team training. Decent pay/benefits package. I did mid 40's first year. Hazmat not required but bonus to run it if you have it. Home weekly or stay out long as you want. Only hire from certain schools you'd have to check with recruiting to see if your school is on the list.
I did 3 years with them. Started right out of school. Trained for the last year I was there. Left for a much better opportunity otherwise I could have stayed there and been fairly content. Still have no problem recommending them as a good place to start and get solid training.GummiBear3 Thanks this. -
Yea would have loved to try Epes was not approved

Averitt also has a few service centers in VA as well. But that depends on where you are located, since you never said where in the state you are.
I was looking at Abilene upon my CDL grad, but after looking deeper, choose Averitt instead.
Service Centers in VA:
Norfolk (Portsmouth)
Richmond
Roanoke
Shenandoah

Abilene is a great company
long training period with good money while training
all the necessary training to be sucessful
way above most companies -
I like Abilene but their drivers here complain about having to switch loads when headed west and go back to NYC because some refuse to run there. Nice Eqp, clean and seem to be paid ok. None of their trucks is over a 1 1/2 yrs old.

Knight Transportation hires out of Virginia. They will run you whatever you want. Either NE, SE, or all 48. Good equipment and well maintained as well. Decent pay off the bat for trainees. Treat you well, actually like a person! There are no contracts at all for any of your finishing training coming out of school with your CDL.

How is knights hometime?
-
Depends on what you are looking for. I am on a a plan to where I can get home 2 days every 10-14 days out. But to be honest with my family situation I am going to be alternating home times. 2 weeks out 2 days off than 3 weeks out 3-4 days off.

VWI just started putting in driver facing cameras with mics and if your lucky enough to get a truck without one youll get one soon enough.
