How does a camera watching you save the company millions of dollars when the driver causes an accident? A mandatory camera in every CMV will never happen.
The only reason Crete is doing all of this hyper safety stuff is because of that fatal accident in Florida back in 2006 when that driver hit a school bus. A camera in
the truck will not reduce the liability of a company for the actions of its employee. In fact if the driver is doing something that distracted him from driving then a
video of the drivers actions leading up to the accident would make it much easier for a lawyer to sue the company and the driver.

the only thing a camera in the truck does is give video proof of the drivers actions during an incident, and it gives the company lawyers more ammo when they can prove the driver was doing what they were suppose to do when the incident occurred. ..and it catches drivers that are doing it wrong opening up a civil lawsuit by the other party to go after the driver.

You can file a Civil suit against the driver but what are you going to collect from him? Not to many drivers have any assets worth going after.
On the other hand a trucking company has plenty of insurance, property and assets to go after. Why do you think you see giant billboards and
advertisements on the side of the highway put up by lawyers that specialize in truck related accidents? Most truck accident lawsuits are settled
out of court. If the driver is guilty of gross negligence he will face a criminal trial and probably be convicted of a felony and be sentenced to serve
a prison sentence based on the severity of the accident and his previous traffic accidents and convictions. The only thing the company loses is
profits. Obviously these trucking companies that are being sued for the accidents caused by their drivers have designed into their methods of
business operation a way of paying off the judgments against them and still make a profit.

I RSVPed to it. Not sure if I'll actually be routed to Lincoln for it tho. Killed enough time at home this month, I'll go if I get the right load, but I won't go out of my way.

The driver will always be named in the lawsuit, but they are primarily after the trucking companies money. (Been there, done that, and have the t-shirt)

I don't think a petition will do any good. They are sticking with cameras of some form.

My problem is not with the cameras, it's with what Crete does with them. From my direct experience with the drivecam, the people who evaluate the videos don't know much about trucking, and they are trying to sell the cameras (more cameras) to crete.
Once the video is reviewed by the drivecam 'experts', it's sent to more 'experts' at Crete.
They are are ones who nail you with safety points, or DDC, or worse.

Sometimes mine doesn't go off for weeks, sometimes it goes off 3 times a day for no reason. The system is faulty or they are playing with the settings, or both.

The camera still triggers when it thinks you are speeding, based on the GPS, which we all know how accurate they are.

Crete is not going to change directions on this over a petition, or a few complaining, or quitting drivers.

I'm not so attached to this company that I care if I drive another mile for them, or not.

Finding another job is a minor inconvenience, compared to dealing with bureaucratic numbskulls.

If I'm going to get fired over some fantasy BS, I'll try to make sure it happens when I'm a little closer to home, since I do not trust these jerks to provide suitable transportation home for me. (A bus ticket is not suitable transportation in my opinion.)

I was in the Lincoln yard one time and the party was that night. As if I gave a darn about those a holes that work in the building and they cared less about me. Some new female driver was all excited about going.

She came back all upset because no one talked to her. I told her that I tried to warn her but she was just sure Tonn was just dying to meet her...LOL. At least she got a free dinner out of it. I enjoyed the pizza me and some other drivers ordered.
