Is it expected to give a two weeks notice when you want to quit otr and go local?
Do u just tell dispatcher u need a load to the terminal to turn truck in? Do u write notice to quit like other jobs outside of the industry?

    Who do u tell?

Most don't give 2 week notices they just till dispatch to route them to terminal im quitting. If your company has been good to you then I say they deserve a 2 weeks notice otherwise a few hr notice is sufficient enough as long as you're not under a load. When I was otr I quit a couple companies while home so I could clean trk out.Thats been yrs ago and both companies never gave future employers a bad refference.

I'd have my local job lined up first. You don't want to be unemployed without a complete year of experience. Get to the terminal. Clean the truck out really well and take pictures. Then check out with safety. Easy as that. If you want to give a two weeks notice, that's on you. I would for a small company, but large companies have the volume to not notice one steering wheel holder leave.

Have the (new) driving job before you put in a 2 week notice ! Its easer to find a truck driving job if you are working during new back ground CK.

Another thing I've heard is companies aren't going to post a DAC report until you've left. Best to get that new job lined up before your old one starts telling stories...

CY, that's funny. I didn't think we'd hear from you for a while after that embarrassing loss from the Packers yesterday. Poor McCarthy, was he upset. Now, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, quitting, "just slip out the back, Jack",,,
