I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions or knowledge about the 12.8 MBE4000 Mercedes and how it stacks up against the Detroit...Is it a pretty decent engine? Problems?

I just came out of an 07 Century 120....it was the 14l Detroit.
Great running truck with the EGR delete on it and 550 HP.

Wish I could tell you about the MB engines.

You may want to ask in the Freightliner forums...

Mercedes engine.. one word comes to mind.. "Run!"
Had one when I pulled flatbed, got it new, they bought 25 of them, good until right around 450-500K miles, one I was in was an 07' Freghtliner Columbia, they start leaking antifreeze due to head gaskets blowing all the time. It was a 450 mercedes engine, that would take a 45000lb load up Black Mtn at 27 MPH, and Eagle Mtn at a whooping 29 MPH with same load. They were restricted to 70 MPH but that engine wouldnt go 70.. something with the setup on computer so all it was run out was 68 MPH. It could only be set to run either 68 or if they set it to run 75 it would run 72.
The engine is a throwaway engine.
