So i went to update my Plate at the DMV Specialist today and i was told EFFECTIVE STARTING LAST MONTH JANUARY 1ST 2015,you can NO LONGER buy a B plate for your truck and add on 2 or 3 more states on like the old way,

Now the New Law is Either you spend $520 on a B PLATE with No adding other states any more but they still will let you buy a 24 Hour Permit,Cha ching $$$ cha ching $$$ :hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding:or Spend $1300 on a APPORTIONED PLATE rated on 65,000 miles for 48 United States and the following year it will be rated off the Last year,But,BUT if you go over 65,000 miles ,You got it the PRICE GOES UP ON THE APPORTIONED TAG,

I was also made aware after speaking to the IRS TODAY,you can NO LONGER USE YOUR PERSONAL SS# to file your 2290.

I was told you must now FILE and GET a EIN number now,in order to file your 2290 HVUT,so now i gotta wait 4 days to receive it because when i applied online i got a error code,REQUIRING ME TO CALL THE IRS,unbelievable.

I wonder if they made it this way so when the STATISTICS COME out it will say X AMOUNT of New O/O Or X amount of Renewed O/O for Political Purpose.
This is becoming a CIRCUS,with all the LOOPS N HOOPS we have to RUN THREW NOWADAYS,just wondering if any other Ops Heard about these NEW POLICIES

Dont get me wrong, you should Incorporate your Business to protect yourself but now
The Government is Now Forcing OWNER OPERATORS TO FILE WITH A EIN NUMBER,But they dont want to give you a Tax Brake

I was aware of the change during some loosely related research into 2290 filing and base plates. I opted to go with the carriers base plates I am leasing to, so didn't give it much thought, other than what you already stressed - CIRCUS, LOOPS and HOOPS.

Hmm. The irs made me get an ein to pay the 2290 tax way back when I first titled a truck in 1995. I wonder how you've gone all these years without doing so. And what the heck is a "b plate"? I've only ever heard of apportioned, or in state non apportioned.

Exactly, I thought an EIN is pretty much required simply to file taxes as a company.

It's not as a sole proprietor.

I file everything with my SS# except 2290. Been using EIN for that and New Mexico WDT since 1997

It was all those years I was an O/O. There wasn't even a place of the filing form for the 2290 for a Social Security number. Just the EIN.

Q: I licensed in sept. My cab Card only has 22 states on it. Do I still need trip permit in states that aren't on my cab card or do I have to wait till sept. again?
