Anybody have any thoughts for a California trucker who passed a weigh station in Utah? He did not notice the sign for the weigh station, and followed his GPS down the old highway toward the pickup location approximately 30 miles away. The cops pulled him over on the old highway and ticketed him. He stopped at the weigh station on the way back. He is trying to avoid a points suspension. Any suggestions? I'm not finding anything in Utah law that is useful. Don't worry about the legal advice thing. I'm just looking for direction on what I should be looking for and where I should be looking.

It's a $124.00 ticket (at least that's what it was when I got one in NM) and doesn't show up on the MVR, so no points. ( not a moving violation)

take the ticket .....move on............it is what it is
we are all responsible for our actions
I dont see it as a license suspension issue
unless he has lots of other problems with situational awareness

Failure to obey posted sign, non moving.
Write a "terribly sorry" ticket to the court, ask if it be forgiven - otherwise pay up and go on, lesson learned.

I agree, tell him pay the fine and move on as a lesson learned.

Just out of curiosity, was it the Monticello scales? The signs for that on ARE easy to miss. I have missed em.

Well it's not like the dude was on the CB asking southbound if they saw interceptors parked in the back of the scale lot...

I always get on the CB and double check for Interceptors if there is none then I just blow by them. Ok Im just joking around, I know if one of our drivers pass a scale the prepass will identify the truck and Dot sends a letter.

I guess you completely missed the part where they did chase him down and wrote him a ticket?? I think thtas why he IS worried about it.

I agree with others pay it move on and like to add get rid of the GPS since this driver can't do 2 things at once.Follow GPS and read signs.
