There are some days I feel I could drive another 3-4 hours after running out of driving hours. I don't kn about 20 though. That's a lot of coffee. I wonder if productivity would actually pick up if you could choose between 3 loads? I bet that would retain drivers and bring in some more.

Holy crap! I literally can't believe the conversation i just had with my asset manager. I called in to let him know I needed to adjust my fuel route because I'd likely get too low or run out of DEF before I hit my next fuel stop and he asked me what DEF was. I thought he was joking but apparently HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT DEF IS! I actually had to give him a brief explanation of what Diesel Exhaust Fluid is before he agreed to adjust my fuel route! This man is in charge of at least 30 drivers, most of whom HAVE trucks that require DEF! What the actual ####?

I am surprised he didn't suggest you go thru a shop and have it checked to see if your DEFometer needs calibrated...

Do they allow you to use some of your truck cash to buy the jug over the counter?

There's drivers with one year experience + working for Werner, Stevens, Transam, Cr England and etc for .32 CPM
    And drivers work for that!
See threads of drivers starting out at Stevens for .28 CPM.. it's ridiculous.

If you owned a company why would you raise your pay if drivers are willing to work for garbage?
Who's the "bad one" the company or the dumb driver working for nothing?

    Wild Murphy Thanks this.

In those days my total hours would be 68-70 much of the time. I knew I was being as productive as possible most of the time.

20 hours driving: I was younger and more motivated then. If I had a good nights sleep, I could stay awake 24 hours easy.

With the shorter length of haul, often with a set delivery appt, it is more difficult for a driver to get the miles. More work in my opinoion. I had to learn to be content with about 2600-2700/ week.

My first truck at Crete was a '91 Freightliners fld with a 48" bunk , no cabinets, no closets , no jake , no power. It had an 11 litre Detroit that was weaker than it should have been. Rated at 340 hp, but possibly about 300 in reality. In my first 12 months i put 150 ,000 miles on the truck. But I only got paid for 138,000 because Crete paid hhg miles (shortest route) instead of practical miles . Glad they changed to practical. It was the right thing to do.

    Food: Madison Alabama.

Land: I saw your photos. Really nice. I am saving right now to purchase some in Tennessee. Got a house for sale in NC. I am all about camping and hiking. Van dwelling was fun for a while but got old. You got any structures on you land?

That's how I feel today. If anyone wants a run your ### off load today, come to Amarillo, or Plainview, first preplan to Alabama, totally undoable, delivers tomorrow too. Second was to eastern Missouri, delivered tomorrow too, It was just too tight for me, maybe, possibly. But any delay today and I would have been too far out to deliver and would have had to sit with it til Monday.

And lastly number 3, I should have turned it down, but 3's the charm. Really.
It's the load to Maine, 2061 loaded miles, delivers Monday at 6:00 eastern time. With my hours today I could run about 200 some miles and be up there close Sunday afternoon. Deliver Monday and have about 5 hours left on my 70 for Monday and gain nothing Tuesday. hmmm?

But the trailer has a bad tire and the shops are packed, my 14 will be up before it's fixed, so, I'll end up Sunday afternoon 150 to 200 miles away from my delivery instead.
I hope the roads are clean and dry that early.

If you're in the Amarillo area,They have a good steak here, a 14 ounce Strip at the 72 ounce place,
