Always thought it was a bogus argument that if you don't vote you shouldn't complain. In a rigged system where you have a choice between coke and pepsi - meet the new boss, same boss as the old boss. So you choose not to participate in a corrupt system and are expected to keep quiet. With these studies and driver input just meaningless window dressing as always. What the big players want they get. Speed limiters and EOBR are a done deal and everyone knows it. They wanted the old 34 hr reset so they could squeeze more than 70 hours a week out of already over worked drivers. Hopefully that reprieve will sunset and the 34 hr rule that requires a rest period between midnight and 5am with a limit to one reset per 7 days comes back.
So I've volunteered for the 34 Hr restart Study done by the FMCSA

That deal was total hogwash and everyone knows it.

Virginia Tech will be handling the new study comparing old reset rules to new reset rules.
What are the odds that VT will go against their own results which recommended the new reset rules-- that's right they are the entity who FMCSA hired to conduct the study that caused the new 34 hour reset rules in 2013.
Isn't that a conflict of interest? You go to a group and ask them to do a study on current reset rules and proposed new reset rules..
Couple years later you go back to them and have them re-do the study? Does anyone really believe they are going to go against their own recommendation from years past? -
I hope they keep the 34hr reset and keep the two periods of 1-5am in the trash.
G/MAN Thanks this. -
Requiring the reset to have two periods of 1-5am never made sense. They should never have implemented it. If they were really interested in safety, they would have tested their theory in real world conditions before implementing them. That never happened with the 1-5am rule prior to implementation. It should also not matter if the reset is used more than once per week. If a driver is sitting long enough for a reset, it should not make a difference.

The 14hr window is another problem. Let me stop and wait out rush hour traffic without counting against my hours.
