Does anyone have some experience with split sleeper? I screwed up and ended up doing an 8 in the sleeper, 2 hours of driving, and then back to an 8 in the sleeper. Normal splits are 8/2. Though according to the qualcomm, I am legal to drive with 9/11 and 12/14.

Recommend visiting logbook dot com and downloading the Eclipse software. It's free for x amount of time and after trial is over and still need to use it, go back a few months on the date and play with the graphs that way-still free. Anyway plug in your times and it will show a blue line for legal driving or a red line for illegal driving. I use it to double check my paper logs every once in a while if my clock is all butchered up and confusing. I even used it back in my Swift Elog days because nothing worse than waiting 8 hours in the sleeper and not really sure how many hours are coming back due to total 5.5 hours off duty all mixed up with driving and on duty time at shippers etc. Great trip planning tool, the 8/2 or 2/8 or 8/8 split which are all legal and OK

I tried a mac 30 and was disappointed by the 2 offerings. One back to PA and one to Memphis, TN. Yuk.
So I ignored it.
A couple hours later I get a pplan that, aside from picking up 12 hours after my post 34 PTA, was very nice.
Picking up a Ford auto parts load in Monroe, MI headed to CO and WY. 128 mt and 1650 loaded. 2 extra stops.
I was hoping for a load headed west of here, and I snagged it.
The final is Tuesday at around noon, and I'm hoping the next load will deliver on Wednesday so I can get a decent next paycheck. Another 500 miles would do nicely.
That will be the check for my next home time in Denver with my girls. I need enough to do something fun with them. Perhaps Boondock's.
It's cold enough here to be idling. I'd hate to see my idle time this month, with all the cold temps I've been in...
It's 12 degrees now and getting to around -4 tonight. -
Sitting in Morris IL, happily relaxing after pulling 2k miles in three days. This bad weather chased me across the Northwest to here. Sun is out and melting snow...it's a good sign. Turned down pplans going to downtown Pittsburgh, as doggies and I need to be in Las Vegas for the races. Had frantic calls from planners after I parked last night, saying "there are no drivers in your area to pu this load!" In Chicago land area, no drivers...really? So, yeah...after looking at my recap and seeing that I burnt through my 70 a little too fast, and having just turned down another two plans going to bad areas, quickly decided to do a reset now and spare the trouble. As I updated my pta, I added in the notes... For the five loads or more you plan to run me between here and Vegas.
These guys don't know that I am looking out for them, in a way, since it seems anything at this point will make me walk.
It's a good day for paperwork, phone calls, and relaxing. Three straight days of night driving always gets to me somehow. -
Woke to above freezing and decent roads. Short lived. Ever drive on a secondary narrow two lane with deep ditches on both sides covered with yesterday's snow/slush having to drive around fallen trees get to an intersection and see NO ONE has even driven on that road and then the q-comm loses satellite connection. OK I know that was run on but I started wondering had I run OFF the road how long before anyone even came by let alone find me. LOL wait I can hear Moosetek already "don't sweat it". The trip up to Memphis that should have been under four hours turned into almost seven. T-called the load then was arm twisted asked to deliver it live unload. DM got me a "home time" load that wouldn't be to Memphis for a while so I called the customer to see if they'd do the l/u early. They said bring it, I did. On the way back to terminal DM let me know my home time load was still 130 out. Got under it with 39 mind on 14. I did NOT want to spend the night at the terminal so made the Pilot on 78 east with 6 mins to spare. I could get to drop tomorrow with a hard run but would have no time to drive home. So, one more night before back to see wife, daughters, dog and cat.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Wow it got super cold here in AZ, 68 degrees, I can feel the difference in my toes while wearing flip flops. We also had a few sprinkles just enough to make your car dirty. Steve is home and we are soon off to see some "real" cold dealing with his ailing Mom. Sadly you all can't just drive where it's sunny. I guess on a bad day you can job search trucking in Hawaii

Personally I hate those kind of roads, even in clear and dry weather.
Why would you think I would say 'don't sweat it'?
I am probably the first person to shut down when things get bad. And I've made no secret of it. -
Loves, Troutdale Or. Snagged a load heading west this morning, I love the northwest. Hopefully I get surge on my old dedicated gig out here, while I wait for paperwork to arrive at the house clearing me to go on my next dedicated gig. I love the variety of OTR, but I love the mountains even more. (Yes, winter included.) I always miss them when I'm driving through the plains states.
OceanDan Thanks this. -
I'm from the mountains too, so I know the feeling.

Yup 3rd for me on missing the mountains. And the Pac NW. Funny thing is, after living in the Pacific NW for over 11 years I still get a little excited whenever I get back out there.
