Slight Disaster.
Flood, not typhoon. Clean up, not mortuary.
Showering and shaving, on Thursday morning, as you do - the phone rings and it begins with the tone of a man who is pretty sure he's going to get rocks thrown at him - and knows you're close enugh to do so. Ozark Utility. Trailer not ready. Trailer still on assembly line.
Luckily, the night before, I'd had a premonition, and rang about some trailer relocations. So, I kept my appointment to have the dump valve installed at Wicks in Strafford (so far, I reccomend these guys for work), ran up to Kansas City and began shifting trailers to Omaha. Burnt 14 hour clock on Thursday, 11 hour drive on Friday, and I'm half way back to Omaha with my 3rd now.
Money isn't great, but it gives me a chance to get used to logs, paperwork, the truck, and all that good stuff. TTT $1350, for 3 trailers. Empty trailers up, bobtail back. Was planning on running all weekend, but weather and Xtra in KC won't permit that.
More when I return. I see all the comments and apprecciate.Blue jeans, stwik, Grijon and 4 others Thank this. -
That sucks. They give a good date for when it would be ready?
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Sometimes they will deal on those trailer moves. Maybe they have it locked down with the landstar agent already, but I would inquire about using one of the trailers for a couple weeks or a month. Offer to drop it off at Omaha for free or discounted. Explain you are waiting for a new trailer and need something to run with til it comes in. Can't hurt to ask, they are usually pretty motivated to get those trailers moved cheap and not too concerned with deadline to do so.
good luck.stwik and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Blair, you're pulling those? This is a prime example of a Little John agent that is full of crap. He tried to get me to come up there to do those. Good to know I'd be sitting all weekend instead of pulling some cheap trailers to "help" him out. I'd call Brenda and see if she has a trailer you can use nearby if yours is still being assembled.
stwik, blairandgretchen and ironpony Thank this. -
As of last week there was a steel flat in OKC , 48 foot can locks and blue.
stwik and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Yeah just call brenda she will give you a list of where certain trailers are, and you just drop the company trailer nearby when yours becomes available.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
