Gonna be buying my very first truck. I like what Mercer has to offer. My exp is van and refer. I'm about to be 25 with 4 years exp. I live in nwa arkansas.(springdale). Looking at loads not many van loads more flatbed. How does it for van loads? Also does Mercer pay base plate(forgot to ask on phone)?

I've caught a few Mercer van fellers on the CB that seemed happy.

Mercer provides the plate, but you pay for it with deductions from your settlements. Also, get a flat. Don't be a lazy door slammer.

Living in NWA you might want to think about a reefer outfit.

Never done flatbed I don't have chains or anything. With just starting up I can't really see spending 2,000 on chains right away. I'm also scared I won't be able to lift those tarps. they weigh about 110? Almost my full weight lol

im a 'lazy door slammer' at mercer. What a stupid thing to call somebody. My money is just as green, taken at the same stores and piled up would be practically as high as a flat bed driver. I love what I do. I don't have to sweat, freeze my butt off or climb on top of loads, fold or lift heavy tarps. But some people like that kind of work. To each his own. I'd pull any trailer and haul most anything as long as I get to drive my truck.
You can't go wrong pulling any type trailer for Mercer. It's a great place to work. And as you can see, there are all types that work here.
Good luck with your choice. Pm me if I can help with any van questions.

Jesus, some people have no sense of humor and some very thin skin.
