That would be news to me as I haven't heard of anything like that yet. They might have closed down a dedicated account or something due to a loss of revenue or inability to remain profitable...or because they lost it to competition. But in that case, they generally try to put those drivers into the OTR fleet.

Seems like everybody has rumors of companies going bankrupt. And I think that alot of companies may have to with the fuel prices and tight margins. That doesn't mean they are necessarily closing. There are a couple of companies that have been in and out of bankruptcy multiple times in the last 25 years. It is often used as a bargaining chip to get unfavorable contracts rewritten.
-
I think that also, a company will try to do a lot of things before declaring bankruptcy. While I don't think Schneider is near that, they are doing things to conserve their biggest expense...fuel. And I think if worse got worse, they would let some people go, or just allow the company to slow down by letting the natrual turnover cycle continue and not taking on any newbies.

Thanks for posting this thread. Just read through all of it. Ill be going to Green Bay on June 14th to start training for Schneider.

no problem, best of luck, let me know if i can help with anything.

Well, so far, what is your overall opinion of Schneider? I mean I know it hasnt been long but anything is helpful. I decided to go with them because Watkins Shepard wont hire me right now nor will Millis Transfer.

I just got back from dinner out with the wife and we ran into some people she knew and the husband is a trucker and he told me Schneider just layed off 25% of there drivers this week , he said anouther carrerier did also but i cant rember who he said ,
i was in fennamore Wi yesterday and a local company that dose local runs shut down
if this is all true it could get sticky till the fuel drops -
Hmm I wonder what reliable source they heard it from. If they canned 1/4 of their workforce, youd hear about it before it even became news...thats about 5,000 employees at least.

it was just some thing the guy told me , i was talking on what i was doing and he just said dont go to Schneider after school , i didnt get a chance to talk to him after dinner , he is a o/o so i dont know where he heard it from , he did offer me his truck for sale tho ,, lol

Well, the training was very hard, if I had the money i'd of went to a private school, but they still make you train the schneider way, which you must conform too, so just play the game. they sent me to a private school to learn backing for my cdl test and I learned a lot that day. The SNI trainers tend to be rush rush and are impatient, so this causes anxiety, but have to get started somehow. you have to focus through the pressure they put on you, its like one big test.
Overall I find them to be fair, which is all i really expect. I finally have my own truck just picked it up and charlotte, i've been running with a spare truck for 3 weeks.
You will have hard times, but after each hard time it gets a little bit easier. I'm in bulk so don't know about van, bulk has better pay and better home time, but the surge (liquid movement) slows you down and makes it a rough ride.
You'll do great! Like they say 80% of life is just showing up . .
