As a new driver I am getting a lot of different answers to trailer height questions. My company uses 40', 48' and 53' trailers. I know some of em are made by Great Dane. Does anyone know the correct heights. I think 13'6'' but am not sure. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

They are all generally going to be "13-6". But that is assuming the tractors all have the "normal" 5th wheel laden height of 47 inches. The longer the trailer (and distance between tandem sets) will impact some bridge underpasses that have a significant and short dip to navigate under them.

Some tractors have high-profile 5th wheels installed after factory (for whatever reason) and some air bag systems are out-of-spec or mal-adjusted and might potentially raise the trailer height beyond 13-6.

get a tape measure and measure. Trailer height varies, I know many of the newer utility refer trailers are 13'7" at the rear doors due to the massive brace across the back edge of the roof, and that is with 22.5 rubber.

Unless they're pulling mail trucks, those are shorter, but the legal maximum w/o an oversize permit is 13'6"...and when you go thru a scale, most have height sensors to make sure it's legal.

In the east this is true but there several companies out west that pull 14' vans that are perfectly legal.

Yeah, W. coast (probably 11 Western) allow 14' high trailers as well as 14' high flatbed loads. I know a few midwest/eastern states allow 14' high trailers, but must have "OD load" banners flying on front/rear. Take notice of USPS trailers they are about 13' tall only.
