Let me give you some advice since I work at a dealer and have the position of service manager. The following is the biggest reasons why things take soooo long to repair/diag/ get approval.
    • If it shuts down, assuming it is a modern unit write down ALL the codes......most of the time TK units will couple codes together.
    • Call ahead and see if you have a account with the dealer. NOT THE BRAND THE DEALER, just because you have a account set up with TK of Alaska does not mean anything if you are taking it to Ohio, dealers are individually owned.
    • Be honest, if you ran it out of fuel or put a penny in a fuse holder spot..... tell the dealer. We have been told 15,909 times that they did not run it out of fuel. Haha.
    • Know the model. Is it a SNW-D or a SB-330? This is a valid source of information for multiple reasons.
    Thanks,
If you need to PM for more specifics, please do.

There is Only 2 Types of Drivers that pull reefer:

    1) The ones who bought into the BS line of Recession Proof Freight and work for Cheap.

    2) The ones that fail to realize their paychecks do not reflect the hrs/days put in waiting on loads to get ready.

Somebody sure did wrong you right?
I will pull groceries any day over some so called "hot load" of diapers and lotion that just had to be there yesterday.

As for waiting. That's billed to the customer just like the freight. Money money money. Haha

My name not billy. We get our standard $50 per hour for waiting at the dock door.

Time is money. And I don't fall for the hot load b.s.
that's why I condemned it to begin with.

LOL 98% DROP AND HOOK?? NOT AT PRIME I'VE DONE ABOUT 4 DROP AND HOOKS SO FAR OUT OF 30 LOADS one does not simply "drop and hook" as a solo driver at Prime Inc. Expect every load to be a grueling live load and unload 1-4 hours is the standard I would invest in a TV

I'll probably never haul reefer again. Too much unpaid extra work involved. The worst was the shippers and receivers. They treat you like some 3rd world, sub human garbage. Walk into warehouses that has a gated cattle pen with a window and a line. Get to the front of the line and no eye contact. Some snob grabs paperwork and says its going to be 12 hours before we can get you unloaded......

Keep your fuel tank full and monitor your temp..

if Stevens and CR England can do it so can you...

If you get on with the right outfit the money is good, real good...

pulled reefers most of my career and had very few problems with them due to the fact when i pick up a trailer i pre trip the unit which alot of drivers are to lazy to do .
this means ya open the reefer doors and :

    check the oil .
check the belts and hoses .
    check the battery connections .
yank out the bird nests .
close doors and make sure they are secure .
start unit and set it in pre trip mode ..takes about 10 mins and checks all systems and will show codes if any .
check fuel and treat if extremely cold ..duh .
most units have a pocket on the inside of the doors with an owners manual ...read it and you will learn alot .

alot of the probs these drivers have with units could have been avoided with a decent pre trip and some commen sence .
