Did you also get an inspection at the time of the ticket? I believe Illegal Lane Change on an inspection carries 7 points for the carrier for 2 years and 3 years for the driver.
Recommend fighting it. Even if the ticket is only a $100 dollar fine and the lawyer cost $1000 to beat it, that is a real bargain because a conviction can cost in the thousands of dollars in lost revenue from potential better jobs or being held down to a lower pay rate at your current job with the excuse of a poor driving record.

I'd make a point to show up in court. After stating my case, if the judge slammed the gavel and said "guilty", I'd say "OK then. Next time I'll just stay in my lane and hit the mother(expletive)..."
Sure, I'd probably be held in contempt of court at that point...so I'd ensure myself a place to sleep that night by responding "And I hold this court in contempt of common sense!"tsavory, ramblingman and striker Thank this. -
in your end the world you do that you might never get from Hampton to the bridge tunnel

all moving violations carry points. however in maryland if you receive a citation from another state the citation will show up on your maryland drivers record but the points do not transfer. I'm not sure if that's the same in your state you need to check with the dmv .

that is a bad analogy of what common sense is
if most truck drivers had common sense there wouldn'y be a law making for a third lane violation
today with no third lane violation law every truck in Chicago would be doing 70 in third and fourth lane
how much common sense is that
without stupidity we would have no need of laws -
He's on 294, he wouldn't make it form the mile long bridge, to I 55...........

I've beat 2 lane violation tickets.... Goggle local lawyers in the area where you got the ticket . Go to court and give it your best shot. Tie ,collared shirt etc.
Grandma used to say justice is blind but she ain't cheap.... -
No, if politicians had common sense, trucks (likely just passing through) wouldn't be restricted to the right 2 lanes to fight with merging traffic all of the way through the city. If politicians had common sense, truck speeds wouldn't be significantly lower than car speed limits, which creates dangerous speed differentials, increasing interactions between vehicles and increasing the likelihood (and severity) of collisions. If cops had common sense, they'd use discretion and say "yeah, it was probably better that you DID violate the lane restriction instead of allowing that car to clip your bumper and spin it out across lanes 3 & 4, potentially closing lanes and causing huge traffic back-ups while the wreck is cleared" and decides NOT to write the citation. Common sense would be a judge recognizing the situation that would have occurred had the truck steadfastly maintained it's lane due to the lane restriction and decided the violation was justified.
Dark Squall Thanks this. -
Actually yes. A level 2. He also made it a point to write a written warning about speed.
Can anyone else verify this?scottied67 Thanks this. -
that would be true if our fellow drivers had common sense
but in this hooray for me generation with no law some
intermodal guy would be out in most left lane saying
he was the most important person out thereDark Squall Thanks this.
