After five years of being a company diver making the payments for the owner what do you own? VS doing L/P after five years you own the truck. Is it worth it? I don't know that is up to the person to decide.

R Kelly wrote a lot of songs about being trapped in the closet

If you leased the same truck for five years from Schneider, you have basically a 5 year old plastic company truck with 600000 or so miles on it. It Will need a engine rebuild soon after years of Schneider cutting the HP back and gears being too tall with that 10 speed.
The 2 I talked to last night were complaining that they are leasing a basic company truck, cheap underpowered plastic freightliner and nothing more.
Save up $50000 in 5 years, by your own for 35000 and set aside 15000 for maintenance. Best of all, you OWN it and have money set aside for a catastrophic engine failure.
Just because something is new doesnt make it worth the hassle.
Why are you paying for something that isnt spec'd to your needs?
Most L/P drivers from any company find out the hard way that companies have their own interests in mind, not yours.
Even if you do manage to pay off the truck, do you honestly want to run cheap freight mfor schneider for 5 years or more?
L/P turns you into an indentured servant right off the bat, putting you far into debt before you even get to work. I prefer to have my boss owe me money, not the other way aroundbigjoel Thanks this. -
So what's wrong with the drivers choice over there at scinder

first off I can't judge Schnieder. Don't drive for them right now. Secondly talking with Schnieder finance. It is not a company truck your leasing. Also there is no govrn on the lease trucks. The choice board avrage per mile is 2.50. To the truck and driver. Also You if you lease through Schnieder financial you are under no obligation to haul frieght for Schnieder. So might want to check in to it more.Lonesome Thanks this.

I'm a IC at Schneider who leased a Freightliner for a year and will be moving into a 680 in may. I have no issues generating revenue or a paycheck. It's more about smart trip planning and pre planning. I go home every week for 2 days and still earn. I keep under load and yes there's cheap freight but I dare anyone to find any company where they Dont have cheap lanes. If you're looking to lease or buy to work less and screw off you will fail. It's a business and needs to be treated as such.
As for your personal bills being fixed costs that is not considered a business fixed cost. You still have those bills if you're a company driver thats what your pay covers not the company's pay.Newtrucker48, Clamhammer and Lonesome Thank this.
