Bad monkey, this won't be all that bad. As far as electrical fire problems go this looks fairly minor. The fact that it started and runs with no shut down codes being thrown means engine or ecm wires have been burnt through. It's just a matter of replacing the ones showing signs of being melted one by one. The though choice here is do you just cut out the bad ones and splice in, or do you replace the whole harness. If the harness can be purchased for reasonable $$ you may want to do that to avoid potential corrosion issues later. If you choose too splice, be sure to use quality heat shrink butt connectors.

Thanks Spyder, I'm going to let my mechanic make that call. I told him if he thinks its better to replace the whole harness (probably a good idea)then go ahead and do it. Electric leads with alot acurrent going through them and wires that need the right current and ohms going to the ecm is not something to cheap out on.

We do know what we are, since it is a l/p, just not through Mercer. So I'm still an l/p guy, but thanks for at least trying to make a point

I'm not moving it for $1.27, the math wouldn't add up, truck payment or not. Also, despite having a ridiculous amount of bills back home, I'm still smart enough to save for a rainy day, and I don't care if I run or not, I still cut myself the same check every week. I will sit if I have to, or deadhead 500 miles if it averages out enough that I'm willing to take it. The truck payment doesn't matter if you're disciplined enough to control your spending and plan for bad weeks/maintenance issues.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tablet For my logs and doing load searches and such. I used to run eclipse logs on my laptop but new guys coming in don't get that option anymore. I still use my lap top for doing things like printing out permits and scanning and sending paper work in. I tried the scan by phone/tablet thing but it wasn't to my personal liking so I do it on the laptop. I do hear they are improving and testing a new app for scanning paper work by phone so we will see if that gets better. Reality is most any tablet will do just fine.

technically, you are leasing a truck, with an option to buy. but you aren't doing the classic lease purchase where you get the truck from who you work far. its a different ball of wax.
