A further question I'd like clarification. Richard states Swift cannot change the definition of a trigger. While technically that may be correct I cannot imagine Lytec or the Drive Cam folks cannot change it. Their company printed info states it can record hitting a rough road etc etcm

Lone Bear and DocWatson Thank this.

These cameras are set up per the specs of the customer, at least to some degree.
All Swift has to do is request a change, and it can be changed via the Wi-Fi link.

Many of the settings on my last dashcam could not be accessed directly, but only through the Wi-Fi connection.

    Every video, every question answered...
They never tell the whole truth. They are all, so very well, orchestrated to the Nth degree.
I can see the misdirection with only my limited experience with the cameras.

I have not seen one actual lie. But one does not have to lie to tell a falsehood, or to misdirect thought.

I would be surprised if that response you got from Richard didn't go through several legal assistants and tech advisors along the way.

Sometimes I like to pop in my Sound of Music or Frozen DVD in the sleeper and run the audio into the Line In on the radio so it blares on the surround sound. Now, I can't watch the movie while driving but I can hear it and sing along.

Back in the day we didn't have video available, we just had a car radio and audio.
We had 8-Track and cassettes, and much later CD's.

Hear, and sing along - that brought back some memories of the old days, when you put it that way.

There are not many workplaces that do not have a video camera recording your every move. Every store you shop in, many restaurants, shopping malls, fuel stations, schools, street cameras. I wouldn't like the driver facing camera but I doubt it would cause me to quit a job that I was comfortable with. Just my opinion....

The thing is, we live in the truck.
It is recording 24/7, both video and audio.

Would you consent to a camera following you around, even into your bedroom, and recording everything you did or even said to another person?
Even if you could cover the camera while not driving, it can still record every sound you make.

And this may be the only industry where just doing everyday activities while doing your job can #### you.
Driving along I decide to switch from XM radio to the weather channel on my radio, so I look over and press a button a couple times.
Someone cuts me off and slams the brakes, causing me to rear end them before I can react.
The video will show me to be distracted, even though if I was watching everything around me I may not have been able to react in time.

Doing many things while driving a long distance can be considered a 'distraction' to driving.
And if they use stored footage, even with no critical event happening, they can make a case against the driver for 'bad habits'.

    Switches Thanks this.

Um, but that really should not have been censored. It was in context, not abusive, and quite accurate!

    See?
    Totally idiotic.

I can't even present a valid definition of a valid word without being censored.
