Looking for some info on Carrier units. Specifically used Prime trailers with Intellisets!

The company I worked for just picked up a few reefers for the account I'm on. I've pulled reefers before, but it was all TK when I did it last, so Carrier is a bit different to me. Basically, the most important thing I'm looking to do is prevent the heat from being used at all. The product we're hauling needs to stay below 75 degrees, but doesn't really have a lower limit. It's perfectly okay if it gets down to 60, 50, 40, etc., so I don't need it heating the trailer to 70 when its in the 60s overnight. I just want it cooling when it gets too hot.

I don't have a model number on hand, but they're used Prime trailers, maybe '09, '10 models? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most of the time they are setup to keep the Temperature at a Certain Setpoint.
That means it will normally run heat or cool to keep it within x (usually it`s 10 degress) of setpoint.

The Intellisets, changes some parameters (maybe keep the range a bit smaller)to keep the drivers from screwing up the temperature, and maybe make it easier when hauling certain types of products.
Takes the guesswork out of the temp settings.

I don't think it will normally be setup to NOT Heat.
But that might be something that can be setup in the Unit via the Computer/ECM (or whatever you call them in Reefers)
Might need to talk to your Shop if you have one, or talk to a Carrier Dealer too see if it's possible, and set it up that way.

    Triad Thanks this.

We'll probably have to call Carrier, since reefers are pretty new to the company. Thanks for the info!

There has to be a way for them to program it to keep the temp within a wide range, especially on the intelliset models.

Another way to do it is to adjust the start/stop parameters, and pick the temp variance to be 16 degrees. Then set your reefer for 54 degrees. It'll keep it between 70 and 38.
