When a trucking company does a background check what exactly are they looking at. I've pulled my free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com and also have credit karma on my ipad(a great app by the way) anyways what else could a trucking company be looking at ?

many times criminal arrest records, convictions, DMV reports, sometimes a credit report, many times former employers, if a recent school grad or student, they may contact the school for you progress, lateness, absenteeism, etc.
there are more than one background checking companies out there. too many to list, in fact. so not each one will have the same information on you, and many do not share with one another.
suffice it to say, when you fill out an application, BE HONEST, but (strangely enough) DO NOT volunteer things either, especially if anything in one's background, has passed time that the information may not even apply anymore!PChase Thanks this. -
Absoulutely give all information, 100% correctly and honestly. And NO MORE. Do NOT give more than asked .
I should know - I'm the worlds worst at givivg TMI (Too Much Information).
Is there something specifically you are worried about? -
No there's nothing I worry about, I've lived in two counties my entire life so I pretty much know everything on my credit report and criminal reports, just curious when they pay these companies that do background checks what exactly are they pulling up.

Most companies will check your PSP report which will give them history on any roadside inspections or DOT reportable accidents you have had in the past 3 years. They will also check your truck driving work history through various services such as USIS (also known as DAC), Driver Facts and Ten Street. They will probably run your MVR to check your driving record. Some companies will run criminal reports.
Ask the recruiter who you are speaking with what reports they will run.
