Your on the right track...no $ in OTR outfits or being paid on %, stay on the clock and get paid for everything you do otherwise you will be doing a lot of free work & driving junk equipment, your cdl is your highest priority, you don't want to take chances on messing it up by driving equipment that isn't operating right this means even a stupid marker light out, your company can't say anything about you protecting your license because the law is behind you, .... Get your but on board with a good LTL carrier, it's a faster pace of work but you park the truck at the end of the day & go home with all of your $ 🏁
Which LTL companies pay overtime ???

... Amen brother!!! Now yer cooking with fire!!!
And you will be with family every day 😎🏁🏁🏁 -
Depends where you are. Reddaway and FxF pay OT after 8. OD wont pay OT in our area but will in others. This is for P&D only. Linehaul will not pay OT.
-
personally I'd recommend dayton freight. I said I wanted to retire here and I'm 26. Ot after 40 and vaca days apply as ot.
-
I believe Old Dominion pays OT. We had a couple guys that jumped ship because of that.
Problem is, you have to weigh that decision carefully. A company that pays time and a half WILL do absolutely everything it can to limit that, even working guys 4 days a week.
Frankly, I'd rather work for percentage pay, if it's a good rate. I see two big potential benefits. First, the slackers would either pick up the pace and the returns would drop through the floor, or they would starve themselves out. Second, at 20%, I would have made around $700 after pickups today.
I'd take that.
Shaggy Thanks this. -
It's hard to pick up the pace when ergonomics is piss poor.
I'd do 25 stops in 6 hours and love to make a great wage, But nope, everyone else ( customers ) collects /stretches hours.
One great thing loved about doing roll off dumpster scrap. Paid Percentage and could make upwards of $400 a day in 10 hours. -
That does happen, but it doesn't happen every day. Some guys do lay down, and the rest of us have to pick up their slack. I have a serious problem with that.
Our afternoon clerk apparently thinks it's hard to get fired from here. I beg to differ. It's hard to get fired if you're a screwup and a slacker, but it's EASY to get fired if you're not.
