I came to Schneider in February of 2015. They do pay better and have a bonus system in place for responsible drivers, but every week -- like clockwork -- you can count on their computer system going down. The resulting loss of revenue for the company has to be tremendous. It makes me wish they were publicly traded, if only so a board of directors could insist upon improving the technical infrastructure.

Their e-logs are the QC MCP200, which is like using a Commodore 64 in age of Smart Watches. If you need a trailer, expect to wait thirty minutes or more for the system to catch up. You could call, of course, but then you'll be on hold anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes. Six of one, half dozen of the other. (Personally, I've found PeopleNet to be a fantastic system compared to QualComm.)

The DBLs seldom, if ever, respond via QC MSGing, which means drivers must stop and call in when they need something addressed. This wastes even more time, especially since the MSGing was developed so drivers could find a safe stop, send a MSG, keep rolling, and read what their DBL had to say after he, or she, has responded. My current DBL never responds to any of my questions or concerns. Hours, days, and weeks go by without a response about a pay issue that I've had. And every time I bring this up to him over the phone, he tells me that he "has responded to every message" -- and that infuriates me all the more because it's like having a broken vase in a household with one child who tells you that a man came in the window, broke the vase, and left.

My last load was 317 Paid Miles, Loaded -- but Navigo set me on a route that took 390 Miles. That's obviously another point of contention: If I must follow the route set by Navigo, then pay me the miles that Navigo tells me to drive. This has been happening with greater frequency since I got this new DBL, but the last one I had had a much, much smaller mileage debt on my loads. Needless to say, my miles have dropped substantially as well. I was hitting 2,800 - 3,200 a week, but now I'm down to 2,200 - 2,400 a week.

I've gotten to the point where, between the computer system going down so much, my DBL consistently ignoring my inquires (especially pay issues), and the low miles that I just don't care anymore.

You don't have to follow navigo. Pull out your atlas and make your own route.

If I'm on the interstate and decide to pull off 5 miles north to a ma and pa truck stop, do a ten hour break and then use navigo, it might route me from that highway till my stop, while the interstate is 5 miles south. Am I gna follow the highway for another 200 miles? Hell no that's a waste of time and money.

Navigo will try to avoid tolls, and use less miles even if it's a 30mph road with a stop sign every mile. For example from Chicago to let's say ft wayne, In, if I happen to be in the south side navigo will say take us 30 all the way. Yeah sure ima hop on i94 to whatever to whatever. Out of route miles happen when you drive more miles than plan. If it's in the negative, you drove less miles than plan.

Qualcomm has been going down more than usual. But it never effect me. If you have a problem, email your dbl. Yes email, or text him or her if you have their number. I only email/text if it's an emergency. Empties? Well that's a usual thing. Try to find 1 yourself by nearby customers. Or if your near your 10 hour, then wait it out.

Schnieder isn't gna hold your hand the whole way, time to take action and have a do it attitude than ima wait a bit attitude. But seriously, don't folow navigo 100%, why u putting your money miles on a computer that don't care.

Yeah dude you may have to pull up your big boy britches. I wouldn't answer a moaner and groaner either.

You guys really need to learn paid miles is what they are paying you for. If navigo, rand McNally, Tom Tom and Bon Bon send you to the moon. You are only going to get paid for what they said they were going to pay you. Really man if you like goat trailing it. In the WV or pa mountains to get closer to the paid miles have at it. It just takes a few hours more off your clock and mental health. Dude they been doing it like this for years and they aren't about to change. Dude just say no to being a wheel holder and show them folks you are a money making getter doner who don't need no stinking dispatcher help every 5 minutes.

I've been with them since Oct,2014. The computer problems started in Feb. or March and can be a pain if your searching for a trailer, etc., but most any company will go thru IT problems. Maybe they will finally figure it out tonight, fingers crossed.
I would advise OP to become as independed as possible, as soon as possible.

just like clockwork someone points out a mega's flaws and the defenders start with the name calling and telling him to suck it up - just because you have lowered your standards and found temporary happy times at a 2nd rate bottom feeder does not mean others should not keep trying to better themselves, I say Fred is right the co. has proven they do not care so why should he ?

Op doesn't know how to manager his time and blindly follow the gps, I'm just telling him how to work around it and help him. there's always gna be a complaint with a company with hundreds of drivers. Like apple watch product, there's thousand of buyers and within those thousand there's gna be a complaint about it. I didn't defend schnieder maybe if he look outside the box and think for his own he might improve his financial problem. That's not just schnieder, every company driver, even o/o have to think outside the box to actually make money. This isn't like a hourly pay where a lazy sob makes the same as the hard worker. Just trying to help another driver who happens to use the same system as I do. if he doesn't get it from a mega company how would he do with a small company that doesn't use elogs or qc.
gotta love the trolls under the bridge who have a hard on with mega companies and just have to add their input which is completely useless, ugh same people that talk out their toilet holes in the truck stop. Just gotta have a say

If you don't like your DBL request a different one. If your DBL isn't responding next time you're at the terminal go right over his/her head and speak with operations manager. The other options would be to keep pointlessly complaining about your DBL or quitting.

    Perhaps.

But I would still suggest that he go over his immediate supervisor's head and see if he gets satisfaction there.
