Speaking of calling it quits... I am just about there as well. Prolly gonna follow Andrew's lead and quit the industry as a whole and find something better that doesn't involve driving in circles.
Driving a truck isn't even that bad... neither are most of my customers. It's the stupidity of some of the people that are over me. I got a free ride to college thanks to 8 years of military service. Maybe I should start putting it into use. -
You should man, the GI Bill is an amazing thing. I'm on my second Bachelors Degree, and ill have enough money left on it to do my Masters and ill be completely debt free.
The trick is, if you go to a cheap state school stay on Chapter 30, use that for 3 years then you'll get an extra year of the post 9/11 Gi Bill
I know I don't want to drive trucks forever, but I have a sweet part time gig on Saturday/Sundays for a private fleet hauling our own product. All I do is a 50 mile shuttle turn a few times bumping docks each way. I am not allowed on a forklift and I get paid the minute i punch in till I punch out. Overtime after 40, if I work that much, and I hardly ever do.road_runner Thanks this. -
Good luck double r! If you can do it, you might as well.

Distracted on the 2nd to last stop of the day ( 36 miles from terminal )
Had to piss, The bathrooms aren't located near the LTL door, Took a wrong exit out to the parking lot. Left my dang pallet jack at the customer.
Instead of trying too locate a decent one at home base or retrieving it tomorrow ( yeah right )
End of duty, Jumped in the 4 wheeler made the trek to the customer and picked up my favorite pallet jack. Oh well, killed 90 minutes of my home time. Worth it !
P.S. That was funny hearing the clanging of metal dragging down the cement steps and then rolled to the truck. -
A good jack is worth at least 2 lumpers! Almost as important as a good two wheeler. Corce i use a moffet most days so unhooking chains is hard work for me.
Shaggy Thanks this. -
Those moffets are fun. Only had a chance to play with it at the barn. Just the way i want it
