Yes. And no. Not sure about Canada, but in the usa you can operate a dump valve from the cab. depending on the year of the vehicle, it will be limited to only working at certain speeds. All of our new trailers the dump valve if tied into the abs system so it won't work if you are over that certain speed. I forget the exact number, but I want to say 5mph. All the major trailer manufactures install these from the factory, wired to accept a pig tail from the truck. and every truck manufacture does the same. Neither of them would do so if it violated federal law.

So 2 more days and ill be here a full month. I did my miles up and i ran 10087 miles. My all miles is $1.43 NOW on that was a 600 mile deadhead which was paid $500 plus the loaded pay. Well let's say that was a big mistake as it turned out to be $1.16 a mile that was my VERY first load. Now i've been keeping my numbers better... To this day though i wont haul crap like that again... I live in springdale Ar which seems to be good for flatbed but not the best for Van.. My maintance cost right now is a little high as the AC went out first week had to get that taken care of.. This weekend im doing gearbox fluids which is $420 and fuel filters(Not sure how to change them in a parking lot where i can fill up the filters lol or drain the glass bowl) So thats gonna be another $80? Then gonna have the truck greased(Gonna try to get this for free:D). These are van number's i wont post what our freight really pays for van but current drivers can see. Like all area's depends on where u go.

Pete, even at that low 1.43 it's still about twenty cents a mile better than the megas pay

Oh yea im not complaining im just saying:D That low part is my fault for the deadhead though. But as being a new owner op i think this stuff will happen as im still learning.

Now my goal is to work better on my MPG. its all over the place.. I bought a new muffler to help just didn't get it put on as its at the house waiting. I wanna get the fleet air filter has a lot of people had good things to say about it. With those 2 things i should see 2/10 - 4/10th of a MPG boost. I wanna get a oil bypass put on but right now i can't see spending $900 on the OPS system not installed.. which is around another $500. If i buy the one the company sells i think its $550? But my truck isn't using oil as i haven't added any in the last 10,000 miles.

You guys talking about dump valves reminds me of something.

Would any of you old pro's consider buying a air ride sliding tandem flat ?? . I was looking at a Great Dane combo, the other day with aluminum wheels, coil package. Nice looking trailer. I used to pull one many years ago , much easier on tires than a spread.

    What are your thoughts??

That trailer would be great to have .as long as you know how to load there great . I always like the sliders , much easier to get in tight spots. The companys like the spreads for u really cant be over on weight

If anybody's at the yard I just pulled in. Prob head towards NY as soon as my 34 is up. As for best phone all over @taxihacker66 go Verizon and don't look back and to be honest I prefer iPhone over android. It's better all around in my opinion.

Youre nuts. Even in my reefer days with the stupid tight docks I went to I much preferred the spread. Now, that being said, it would bee much easier to load a flat right than what I had to deal with loading produce out in some field or shed. Having to guess what stuff weighs and where to put it just sucks.

How do you figure? That is about what the big companies pay owner operators. Maybe a little higher, not twenty cents. The first 4 months last year I averaged $2.02 a mile pulling a company van getting 65%

We must see different ads. The ones I see from the megas pay 85 to 90 a mile plus fsc.

Edit to add. As unhappy as you seem to be here, always complaining about cheap freight and agents screwing you over, I find it hard to believe you were doing so good at where you were before, our you would go back to them.

    roshea and TruckerPete1990 Thank this.
