Let me enlightening anyone considering Millis Tranfer as a potential employer.
After spending my first 2 years with Central Refrigerated (now Swift/Central), a company I actually loved driving for I was weary from OTR and THOUGHT I would be both happy and profitable by going regional. Well the 'promise' of being off every weekend was a mirage. They would get me home very late on Friday night and a lot of times I was forced to stay out all day Saturday.Turns out that off every weekend really meant Saturday off and be back at your truck early Sunday afternoon if you knew what was good for you...just enough time to kiss Mamma and leave the next day. This routine along with the cameras, the micromanaging, the crappy miles and $350.00 paychecks all added up to me leaving for higher ground last month. I had been planning on getting my own truck for a while and crossing over to the dark side. With tremendous love from my brother, we got our truck. Next step..Landstar but it all came crashing down when Landstar obtained my DAC report. Millis had put 3 items on the report, 1 I agreed with and 2 that I disputed. The problem was not the egregiousness of the "incidents" but that Millis deemed all three preventable which killed it for me with Landstar. One of these "incidents" involved damage to a trailer. Millis charged me over $2000.00 for the repairs. I paid this by forfeiting various bonus' for almost a year. The second incident occurred when a trailer I dropped sank into a mini sink hole and the third involved the flat spotting of a tire. Without going into the details of incidents #2 and #3, I saw both of them as non-preventable but Millis claims that they were. I have hired legal counsel and I will sue Millis to remove these from my DAC. Fact is they were non DOT reportable and the severity was minor, as was the monetary repairs, (One tow bill and one tire ) !!!
I still have a clean MVR and no DOT reported accidents and no tickets in my 3 years of driving. The items they put on my DAC report was more than enough for Landstar to reject my application. This was extremely disappointing and just crushed me. I feel Millis Transfer retaliated against me for leaving them. Now instead of getting on with my trucking business, I am spending an inordinate amount of time, wasted non-profitable time defending my good name and good driving record each time I apply to lease on with an outfit.
At Millis it's my way or the highway. They make no bones about. So if you like crappy miles, no relationship with your DM, micromanagement and job killing, minor crap put on your DAC, then Millis Transfer will be great for you...

I'm suprised Landstar is being that picky about an owner operator. As far as the dac, does it have to be DOT recordable? That seems like half the value of the DAC report would be lost. The DAC seems like a good private reporting service that can record incidents that the government doesnt.
I had England claim I abandoned a truck. That certainly wasn't DOT reportable. Not trying to say Mill is is right, just trying to get info.

And that trailer sinking, I can see milliS assuming it was preventable. A lot of guys have dropped trailers on soft ground, and put nothing down by the gear to prevent it from sinking.
To record that on your record just comes off as spiteful though. It's a mistake tons of people have done.

Flat spotting a tire. Was a brake frozen, you didn't notice, and drug the tires? That, in my book, is preventable. Dropping a trailer on soft ground, that is a toss up.

Yeah, the tire, you should own, unless you skidded or something. The trailer sinking? Probably not.

I hate to say better you than me, but I am glad at least somebody is sticking to them for using DAC to bully people.

I had a couple of bottom feeders get vindictive with me after I quit. One put "quit under dispatch" which was a blatant lie, I quit on a weekend before they could dispatch me. They were mad because I quit without notice.

Another put "review required before rehire" because I was honest when I quit, and told them I would no longer tolerate or be a part of their mind games and favoritism.

You could try and find a good smaller company that doesnt use DAC, they are out there.

I hope you have learned you lesson with companies like Millis.

Go back to Swift. Tell them Millis was not a good fit. They may bring you back into the fold with only need for a work history update to the application, and certify your MVR record, and not pull a DAC. Although Swift may request a work verification from Millis, and the incidents may come up, if they do, try and explain them and see what they say.

But this may be fate's way of leading you into another career direction. Trucking sucks for many, anyway (if they are honest about it) and feel trapped or stuck and that's not good if you can find anything else to pursue.

DAC is just another service that is used by some companies to permanently damage a drivers reputation. Have you ever heard of Mugshots.com? This company goes around searching public records and getting peoples mugshots and posting them on the internet. It does not matter if the person was found not guilty or if they where innocent. They will remove your mugshot from their website if you pay them a fee of $400.00 Its blackmail pure and simple. Its also perfectly legal. This website was started and is owned by a convicted felon. If you pay them the $400 they contact other similar websites and soon your mugshot will appear on their websites. They will also demand money to remove your mugshot. We live in a very evil country that allows companies and individuals to violates our privacy and constitutional rights with impunity. Its all supposedly done in the name of public safety. If its about public saftey then why will they remove the mugshot for a fee of $400? This country is controlled by a bunch of parasites and grifters. Our freedom is in peril.

The mugshot magazine is a completely different issue. Those people couldn't turn down the mugshot because the department interacts with mugshots .com
If you don't like DAT, and think it a moral hazard, don't work for companies that use it. You, and the government have no right to tell a company how to conduct business.
There are any issues that would be nearly impossible to track without DAT.
