Thanks, jdrentzjr! The run I was on was just under 3000 miles in 5 days. They weren't too strict on the logs. I can understand if they want me on an irregular route before letting me loose. I'd just like to get out there!! lol

Thank you, Evertruckerr!
Running the logs as I drive it will take some getting used to. That's ok. Driving 62mph is probably a blessing! lol Can't get into as much trouble!! Does Crete allow inverters in their trucks? I've heard yes and no.
Thanks again! -

Inverters? You can have them. Cigarette lighter plugin type are fine. If you want anything bigger it must be installed by one of Crete's shops and it's not cheap. You will have a choice of 300,450, or 700 watts. Or something close to that, I'm not positive. And the cost is in the area of $400-$1000 or some ridiculous number like that. Again, not positive, but somewhere in that range. And to top it off, I've heard that you can't take it with you when you quit or get a new truck.
I have seen a few drivers that have unauthorized inverters and they run heavy duty jumper cables out of the bunk box to the battery jumper posts on the frame of the truck to get around it.
This will all be a moot point soon though. The new trucks are being delivered with an APU w/inverter. -

Crete hands trucks out on a first come basis. From what I've been seeing it doesn't matter if you have been here for years or just started. When your current truck is ready to be cycled out you get whatever happens to be in the yard at the moment, although I do believe they go out of there way to get current drivers into new trucks, but at the moment there are no new trucks around, but they are on the way.
When I started they had a bunch of used trucks and thats what I got. Two weeks later when I was in Lincoln going through orientation all the new hires were getting brand new trucks. Luck of the draw kind of thing. -
Does anyone here do the GM Dedicated? What are the miles and the hometime?
-
Well, I got in the truck this morning to get ready for the road again and my only load offer had a pickup in two days - my 4 days at home will be 6 days this time! Another sign of SLOW freight on the west coast, but then again it is a Saturday (but I've left on Saturdays before).
As long as my truck is sitting here, I know it will still drive 65 ! lol DRIVE SAFE -
Well my good luck/fortune has ended. Two weeks ago I had what appeared to be an ant bite on my let. Within a week my leg has swelled almost double, and it turned into an abscess. After visiting a local urgent care center, it was determined that I have the CA version of MRSA(CA stands for Community Acquired, MRSA is the drug resistant staff infection, usually contracted in a medical facility). No one can tell me how or where I could have gotten it since it takes a break in the skin to allow the staff infection into your body... and I haven't had any kind of injury on my leg for quite a while. Now I am off on medical... I had to give up my new truck...again. And no one can tell me how long I'll be off. Fortunately it's the CA-MRSA instead of full blown MRSA. More antibiotics kill this and I don't have to stay in the hospital for an untold amount of time.
The only place I think I could have gotten this is in of our terminal showers...since they clean them whenever they get the time. It could've come from a truckstop shower, but it's rare to spread it that way as long as they use enough cleaning solution. It's still killed by chlorine bleach and other antiseptic/antibacterial cleaning chemicals, if used correctly. So be extra cautious, if it can happen to me... a usually extremely healthy person, it can happen to anyone.
Best of luck... I may take this opportunity to retire from the job I love... I am losing my ambition to succeed after this... It's obvious that I am destined to fail no matter how hard I try, or how positive I've tried to be about things. As often as I am knocked down, I am beginning to believe that GOD hates me...and I am beginning to feel the same in return. (please, no preaching... I've heard it all before...I've lost all faith!)
I don't know how much longer I'll be able to get online. If it's an extended absence, I may have to ditch all but the basic living expenses since short term disability doesn't kick in until after 30 days, and it doesn't pay much. -
Not going to preach because I'm not qualified, but there is a God and there is a purpose for this. I could tell you stories. Anyway, we had a saying in the Navy, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Hang in there.
