Hwy 26 new Mexico truck route?

My 2014 truckers Atlas does not list NM 26 as restricted.

 

You can run it. It's technically not an STAA route and limited to 48' trailers per state regs but the NM DOT won't bust you for it. NM never enforces the 48' limit unless you're on a road already restricted for trucks, like US82 and US380 east of US54.

Lots of bullracks and dairy trucks cut up through there.

The DOT often hangs out at the northbound Border Patrol checkpoint on 26. Once you clear La Migra the DOT may direct you to stop. Last time all he asked was where I came from and where I was going.

 

It's a fantastic short cut. My truck route GPS will route me to Las Cruces too.

Just because I grew up there doesn't mean I want to go through there lmao.

 

It's an authorized truck route. 100's of trucks going both ways. No signs anywhere saying otherwise. They actually have a sign suggesting this short cut southbound, the town wants your business, they have a local truck stop in hatch with about 20 spots for parking

 

B&E Burritos on the main strip through Hatch is the bomb. Legal street parking on the right if northbound.

 

I miss runnin through Hatch and getting chili's.
