Trucker falls asleep and runs over 6 bikers

Fell asleep... woops.

 

Charges filed.

Authorities charged the driver of the tractor-trailer, Serna with Felony Hit & Run and Misdemeanor Death at the request of the ADA.

 

Truck drivers? Well that's 6 less trucks parked on the shoulder for no good reason I'll need to worry about in the future.

No innocent people got hurt by their buggery so that worked out well.

 

The misdemeanor is the bargaining chip to plea to the other charges

 

That picture reminds me of the worst fatality I worked. A lady on her phone, radio up and two dogs in the SUV doing 70 plowed into professional bikers with no braking until after the initial impact.

 

Same here,bad deal all around. I for one never park my bike to take a break on the side of the freeway but that's no excuse for this driver.

 

They were working on one of the bikes.

 

The article said they were doing mechanical work on one of the bikes.
So they were all truckers, because every trucker parked on the shoulder that causes an accident thought he had mechanical trouble.
By the way, I'm scared of you all, and if I break down, my triangles go out..first thing

 

By what I read, it said they were just taking a break.

As for the post that had doubts that a truck driver is held at fault if they park on a ramp, then gets hit...remember CFI a long while back was parked on a ramp and was hit by a drunk who fell asleep, killing her passenger...end result, dead friend, ruined lives...and CFI had to pay $18m in damages. In 22 yrs, I have NEVER parked on a ramp for a break...potty break, maybe...but never to sleep

 

Been there before and don't like it,I do see a lot of guys taking breaks on the freeway though and wonder WTF are they thinking.
