Any can of brake or carb cleaner will work just fine. Look for the cheapest stuff from walmart or parts store. Spray on hoses. Grease will dissolve.

 

But will those aggressive solvents soften the rubber or nylon hoses?

 

I use simple green. Coat it with enough to start thinning the grease then keep using clean rags and wipe until it's not thinned anymore and keep repeating the process. You will go through a lot of degreaser and rags in this process.

 

Dawn dish soap in a 50/50 mix with water in a bucket. Thats what I use to clean my chains, binders, chassis, trailer, 5th wheel etc where grease and oil get gooped up. Works very well.

Yes.. Simple green and there is an Orange cleaner that works well also. Simple green probably better as its 100% biodegradable and environment friendly. Maybe not so much after cleaning grease and oil..

Diesel fuel on a rag. Then soapy water to clean up the diesel.

Got to be careful with a lot of the chemicals...brake cleaners and such...as they'll deteriorate the rubber lines.

Mild degreasers (simple green, purple power, etc.) will work...but diesel is cheaper, works better, and is readily available.

 

as some have said shop rags (the blue roll that looks like paper towels), a sponge and waterless hand cleaner

put some hand cleaner on the sponge and rub... it will cut the grease then clean it off with the shop towels...... you should always keep some waterless hand cleaner and shop towels in the side box

 

Starting fluid is a great degreaser. ( works great on wasps, too)

 

especially when you use a cigarette lighter as you spray it........
