Gjcarr, I believe you misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't knocking on you at all. I was staying that Mercer is so much better than celadon, and celadon is so bad, you would be much better off waiting however long it took, to get with Mercer.

When I came to Mercer I had 4 years driving. Almost half million miles. Experience doesn't tell you where to run. Some companies have contract. We get a lot of broker stuff. Aka agents. Oil fields is different then flatbed. It's like dry van to flatbed its really different. If you think you will make more money you might be right or wrong. Where are you getting truck from?

Yeah, we are not comfortable with going to Celadon, and we may end up waiting. I'm just impatient... I hate waiting and not knowing. And I'm sick of the oilfield. On a good day, he can get 3 to 4 loads of crude. Then there's days like yesterday where he got cut off after 1 load... There's no savings to be had when you have no control over how much money you can actually make. That's another reason we want to try our hand at this thing, for a little more control. And by leasing a truck, if it doesn't work, we can walk away and he'll just go back up to North Dakota until we figure something else out. His current boss already told him he can do that, just work there between jobs.

We've already been perusing load boards and planning out possible freight lanes. I ask a lot of questions because I want to know as much as I can, the good and the bad. So thank you for your responses, your honesty and correcting me when I misunderstood what you meant. :) Have a great day!

If you feel I disrespected y'all then I'll apologize, but if you've been consistently getting by then I don't understand why choose Celedon. How about Sammons. They do lease purchase. Or ask quality about the other places to lease their truck. Why put all your eggs into mercer basket knowing it'll take 2-3 months to get a trailer even after being approved. Better yet with quality you could move the truck after 90 days. Get the list of companies then come to mercer. But to solely work for Celedon is Russian roulette.......

I sent in his application to Jones Motor, too. So he's been in contact with them, as well. And no worries, Taylor. I don't think we applied to Sammons, yet, so I'll have to get on that. Thank you. And why Mercer? Um, because it's Mercer! :p Seriously, just everything we've read on these forums, Mercer just sounds like a really great company to work with. And like I said, if we went to Celadon, we definitely would NOT be staying there. It would just be a stepping stone until a spot opened up at Mercer. Mercer is our end goal, at least while leasing a truck. Eventually we would like to get our own authority, but we'll just take it one step at a time. :)

And seriously, thank you guys, all of you, for dealing with me and my annoying questions, lol. My poor husband, right? :p I think that's why he is an OTR driver, haha!

Just me, but I wouldn't work for Celedon..It may be best for your husband to stay where he is at until he can get a trailer with Mercer and be done with it. It's going to be a wait like the others have said, heck if I go van it's like a 6 week wait as of yesterday and that may be kind. By then I may get my manhood up and get a flat, but as of now, I'm a wuss lol. Yall do what you think is best for you, but Mercer may be worth the wait IMHO.

Yup I wouldn't even have them as stepping stone. I'd say scratch them off the list completely. As I've told you before, why go to a company with their own trucks??

    gjcarr03 Thanks this.
