What did you get for Truck Driver Appreciation week?

Last year, or the year before, I went thru a CHP checkpoint and they gave me a bag of goodies for Truck Driver Appreciation week. To say I was shocked would be putting it mildly. It was a nice gesture, though, gotta hand it to them. I think I was at a scale heading up the Grapevine northbound in I-5.

 

I got the runs from 2 chili dogs, some chips and all the free soda you could carry from my company. They had hamburgers earlier in the week, but I missed those.

I had the broker I was hauling for this week tell me that they appreciated me on this 'driver appreciation week'.(we haul for them a lot, and although they are nice and professional, they never told me that any other week)

 

I got the green light a few times this week and the bypass arrow everytime I passed through the scale

 

Me too...but I got paid for it. 50% of what I'd take home if I were driving all week...so it wasn't too bad.

 

The same as last year....a Tee shirt I won't wear. It's in the mail they say.

 

SON!.....I'm Jealous..

 

I drank half and the owner's son drank the other half. They give and then take... Ha

 

I hope they were empty.

 

I was told I was number 1 more than usual by the 4 wheelers.

 

4 days off! - other than that, zero
