The kid was in a brand new Chevy cruze and his dad pulled up in a brand new Chevy 2500HD LTZ so they apparently have something. If his insurance doesn't want to pay for either down time or a rental then I'll get a lawyer and tell them I want his phone records. If he was texting at the time then it's a wrap.
I don't want it to go that far. I just want to be able to keep working. Paying for a rental for a week with me paying fuel would still be cheaper on his insurance than them paying for down time. I'm not asking for the moon. I just want my truck fixed and a rental to drive until it is. Honestly I would rather them get me a rental than pay me to sit at home.

The only thing them having new cars proves is they got a credit score and two monthly payments. My dad gets credit card offers in the mail every week and he has been dead for almost ten years. just a fact of life that most people live basically pay check to pay check. And they carry minimal insurance. Not sure about ky, but here in Florida ten thousand is all the state requires for property damage. The guy can be one hundred percent at fault, and you can pay an attorney to win a judgement, but that won'tmake them pay what they don't have. Obviously its worth speaking to an attorney about, but the very first thing a good attorney will do is look at what type if insurance they have and do an asset search. (You can also do this yourself if you know how) If the guy isn't wealthy a good attorney will tell you it isn't worth going to court over, but most lawyers will happily take your money to sue and get a useless judgement.

The repair isn't what bothers me. It's the downtime.
I finally pulled the trigger and got a NYC load. After I deliver in pompano beach monday, I'll be picking up some tents going to a pier in nyc for an event just as you get off the Lincoln tunnel. Its next to the USS Intrepid. It's just over the tunnel so shouldn't be too bad and it delivers at 4pm. I'll pay for that in traffic coming out. This will be my first time in NYC with a truck. As long as I don't take out a parked car with my trailer while I take a turn, I'll consider it a success. -
If you have tall smoke stacks or a condo sleeper you won't fit in the tunnel. I forget the clearance but I know it's under 13 6"
