This is all anecdotal, but I ran into a step guy over in CA the other day that was asking me how making out. We had a pretty good conversation, but apparently I'm one of the few lease guys he's talked to that isn't struggling. He said most are only grossing $12-13k/month. I laughed, but was curious how that's even possible. He said that apparently they don't ever look at the board, just wait for their coordinators to find them something, end up sitting for days because of it, then couldn't figure out why they are struggling. That's the only way I can see someone failing here...actively trying to. I know I still have a long way to go in the learning process, but I've grossed between $20k and $24k/month pretty much from day 1 and I've definitely made bad decisions on loads, but I gamble a little with them too. Sometimes it pays off great, sometimes I have to suck it up and learn not to make that gamble again.

I grossed over twenty for the first six months here, and then realized I no longer had to run my ### off and stay gone to make money. Since then I have worked half as much. I like my time at home with the family. Right now I just want to make my financial obligations and be home as much as possible while the babies are little. Once they are older I'll get back and hammer down for about ten years.

Yeah, I do want to start going home a little more often, but I'm definitely not running as hard as I could. I seem to get 3 days a week off on avg

I seem to work 3 days a week. Left the house early Monday morning, for home before the kids were out of school today.

not leaving again till next Thursday on a load I booked this past Tuesday. Unless something short pops up I can run in the mean time.

I've got another year or two before I can do that. I have over $4k in bills at the house a month, but that will drop significantly in less than 2 years

Get the mortgage paid off. That's should be the biggest expense. After that, it really comes down to stop buying stuff you don't need. It's amazing how much people spend on crap they don't need. Oh, and if you order out a lot, that add up quick.

Yeah, the chunk coming off is part of my mortgage. I set it up weird, the land was on a 5 yr loan, that's what will be paid off. House is on a 15 yr loan. I rarely eat out. I cook constantly at home, love to cook and don't get to the way I like to on the truck. On the road, I use a crock-pot and microwave mostly. The bills also include child support, which I pay waaaaaay more than I would be legally obligated, but I want to make sure the kiddos have everything they need.

It's amazing how many guys won't pay for their children. Or ##### about it every step along the way.

3 days sounds about right. With your location it would seem that you just need to tweak your route a hair to get those 3 days at home. I'm trying to sale my AZ house and buy one in TN. A little more home time is the main reason. But a few weeks ago when I ran the west coast I did pretty well. I might go back and just do that for a while and see if I can find myself a nice groove there. Either way I'm still happy as a pig in ummm mud. LOL.

Can anyone recommend me some decent oversized lights for truck? Been looking at some that mount on my mirror they are $80 each.
