you do know some people have not learned anything since 98
seems to me in my little bit of experience most of the emission troubles are in 2008-2012 models
145000 miles on this DD15 in 11 months no troubles at all
old school idling is bad on these newer emission trucks too
    mine never idles

Don't feel too bad. Hop in a logging truck and you'll be lucky to break into the 5's

That is subjective to the truck spec. You could have either truck with a 3.55 rear or one with 2.64 rears......the light load or empty 2.64 rear truck will absolutely kill the 3.55 truck on fuel mileage.
There are a huge amount of variables in a truck spec, engine size and transmission only touch the tip of the iceberg to compare units!

I will be buying my first truck and put a driver one to drive for a carrier, my father has 4 of them. Just getting a fleet together before next year we make a move and go independent but starting with loadboards. This truck will be driven by a team, 1000 radius Toronto. The reason why i asked for bobtail mileage to get a rough idea to narrow my choices down. I have been told 2010+ year came with DPF and DEF with is great compared to only DPF. I am not a fan of these new tech and EGR but a 2007 will have slighly bad mileage and more maintenance because age?

I dont have th option of getting higher rate as of now.

Bobtail mileage is useless. If you are planning on anything then look at performance loaded. Fuel mileage is the least to worry about and the most subjective to deal with, look for something that fits the needs of what you are going to haul.

I'm a newb! I started reading this thread because I couldn't figure out why it mattered. To me it didn't. I guess I'm not alone. I'm in the process of figuring out, with the help of you experienced gentlemen, the right combination for the loads I will be pulling, not the ones I won't. (http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr.../best-combo-for-me.297875/page-3#post-4845665)

Maybe it's because I've been in business for myself so long, but proper perspective is important. Why waste time planning to fail? What really matters? Must be why chrome doesn't impress me either. :D

Frankly, with all due respect, if your looking for bobtail mpg buy a Prius. They do really well hauling nothing, which apparently is your business plan.

All the best advice I've ever gotten was stuff I didn't want to hear.
