Running cheap Chinese rubber?

I've had good luck running Double Coins on my trailer. I don't think I'd try them on the steer axle though. I'm very happy with the bang for the buck I'm getting with Michelin XZA3 steers. I'm very unhappy with the Goodyear drives I bought and may go back to Bridgestone or I may give One Hung Lo tires a try on the drives. I'm not sure if anyone has made the "buy American" argument yet but the last set of Bridgestones I had were made in Malaysia so you may or may not be getting what you think. I know the salesman and the tire tech were both Americans and made money when I bought my Chinese trailer tires.

 

I got some chineese steers at one time the tires were sooooooooooo bad I drove to Utah and back to Sacramento I don't know how my truck didn't fall apart. The tires were so bad that balancing was not possible and when I say I was sea sick it's exactly how it felt.

This is how I look at it. If it's been proven and it works great and is backed up by a million customers I will put my life on it too. But if some u knock underground brand comes around and sells cheaper I have to think is my life worth saving 600$? Rolling down the street at 100klbs on knockoff tires. No thanks

 

I heard of tires blowing out and taking airlines with them.

 

I concur with all posts - run what you want on drives and trailer, and suffer the callouts and down time that may or MAY not occur - but if you've ever had a steer tire blowout, or seen a wreck that resulted from one, I think you'd be spending the small amount more for good quallity steers. For you - and our families.

I run XZA3+ , BTW - and have never had an issue with them.

 

I've been running Aeolus brand drive tires from Love's for about 65,000 miles now, and I am so far pleased with them. They are not yet showing any adverse wear patterns. All my runs since Installed have been the Carolinas, and Virginia, with various weights between 20,000 and 45,000 lbs. Absolutely no problems to report. I would by these again. I tried a couple different Chinese brand steer tires. Not much luck with them, They like lots of weight to run them. So, they were moved to the trailer, where they seem to do just find. All Chinese on trailer. No blow outs on any of them.

 

Buy a cheap Chinese tire, you get what you pay for ,Buy a cheap American tire you get what you pay for, you hear what I am saying ? don't buy the cheapest and you will be fine, no matter who makes them. IMO

 

IMO Double Coin tires are not in the same league as all other Chinese tires. Saying all Chinese tires are the same is just like saying all truck drivers are the same. Of all the tires talked about as being 'American' some are way better than others so why can't the same be said about Chinese tires?
