Seems to be a trend these days...someone builds a company, it goes to the kids after he or she passes on, and the next generation trashes it. I've been with a couple of places in the past where that happened. Makes me ashamed of my own generation and the ones that came after it.

 

I thought Kennesaw was a employee owned co?

 

Im solo and if i run hard i average 13,000 a month, not so hard 2000-2800 a week. i never sat in 3 years ive been here, cept for breakdowns or when i was teams to do a reset. isolos run from atlanta to chicago and when i have my 70 clock on i go to ca. sometimes i have to tap out so i can just take a shower and relax, as im out 2 months at a time. the company has all new internationals and kenworths, automatics, wasnt happy with that but hey its their trucks. gov. to only 68. thats the only negatives. 2500 sign on, safety bonus, holiday pay, 1000.00 extra if you run all 3 hoildays from nov. to 1 jan. vaca pay, 10,000 pay for every 5 years your here. good dispatchers, mechanics, safety, small company that if you do your job and are a hard runner you will never sit.

 

it is, everyone who works for them is given a slight stock percentage in the company.

 

this is not true, only ones who sit are the problem children like any company, they give the hard runners on time for every appointment the most loads the ones who are whiners and always late or have tudes and think they know it all and moan and complain get the crumbs, till they quit. not one company puts up with that , good luck with your new co.

 

I was carefully examined at time or another for Tavern or Storefront Business type Ownership because our family possessed these things and possibly could have been something to more or less be involved in in life. We did not have much internet and no cells etc in those days, but the partiucular area we had some careful talks about what to do with a particular property was literally to turn it into a hourly Internet Cafe that sold a little bit of Coffee. Starbucks did not exist in our time. You generally had something on the side to go with the main business.

After these talks I think after a careful evaluation of revenue potential from the 10 block radius would not have been worth the trouble. We were visting two libraries and getting computer time there, only for me to witness first hand how abused these computers really were. Porn and other smut among forum contacts with undergaed people and worse. And so on. (In Maryland those kinds of details are tuned over to Law Enforcment who had a small Army dedicated to crushing that kind of crime)

We would have been pricing beyond the market of beer drinkers and hourly workers who could not be bothered to deal with fancy stuff because they would not in most cases understand what to do with it. (That is actually a blessing for some, who otherwise have demonstrated dangerous behavior to my two favorite twins, the 8 year olds who had the courage, daring and strength to teach me in a couple of afternoons worth of conversations everything that was done to them and by whom. I eventually became a survivor of that kind of abuse myself but they really did not hurt anything. Or did much in way of damage excepting one of my girlfriends, the predator really hurt her at a younger age before we met.

Anyway would i be inviting that kind of trouble into our business? To play on the computers and commit what is essentially federal crimes for which laws are only now beginning to be written up? Other than gaming and a enormous amount of time sink out there that got bigger each day, what is there offered by the computer cafe that isnt already offered by either a University LAN at night outside of school hours or underground access into what we call the dark web now.

I would not want my store to be a part of that type of situation, when I examined our library computers and began to understand to the extent which and how much these machines were abused by those who simply do not intend to remain decent online in any way.

So that's out. Eventually the entire area of the businesses itself was sold off completely lock and stock and barrell with sufficient equity to essentially take a dart and toss it onto the USA map and decide if that is where you want to life out your life in peace and travel when you feel like it.

For that they were very successful and I am very happy for them. And in some ways Im glad the neighborhood was less than savvy with computers or showed any inclination to remain honorable around them so I did not become part of a bigger problem I suppose. So the kids would have to be in the basement into the 30's with mommy and daddy.
