Seems like Great Plains is falling from Greatness. Too bad. They were one of the good companies, but guess they were just riding the coattails of Holland. And now since they split you can tell who's coming out better off. My personal opinion is to start applying else where. Like Stexan says it can get worse.
And anonymous it seems you are unhappy but want that year, but getting a year of lower pay and headaches are not worth it. But admire your loyalty, but I came out here to make money work as little stress as possible.
But good luck with trying to stick it out. -
I'm considering a lot of things. Basically I don't have much choice but to stick it out for that first anniversary and maybe longer, I'll need that vacation time (also a chance to keep myself from going insane) so I can get overseas and get the ball rolling so I can get my partner over here. It was hard enough having to cancel last spring's trip after getting screwed in my old company's buyout. I might have a sit down with whoever I need to about the frustrations I've been having lately. It's one thing to require drivers to communicate with the office in the event of a delay, breakdown, etc. It's totally another when things don't get communicated to the driver about appointment changes, load cancellations, until the last minute.
highwayman Thanks this. -
Yes communication sucks. Can't get a hold of anyone that you need to. Leaving messages doesn't help and whoever plans the loads doesn't know what they are doing. It's def frustrating at times. Very unorganized inside that office

Well, got as far into Montana as I could go on my recap, luckily the temperatures stayed just above freezing, and just had wet roads over the first couple of mountain passes, which leaves 3 more to go with a little bit of snow moving in. Basically I'm a bit nervous because I have virtually no experience except for a "practice chain-up" I did using one of the chains after I got done with today's driving, thinking each of the bags held two single tire chains, but each bag , 4 of them they put on the truck, instead has a set of three-rail dual tire chain... Kind of puts me in a bind because most of these states require 1-2 tires on the trailer and just the 4 outside drives....
-
I won't chain up .... Anytime it calls for that then it's time to park it ... Period
-
Which ones have you crossed so far?
Big and how bad? I'm following behind you. Running on recap hours as well. And kinda crazy load and run and reload times. Lol -
I got as far as Missoula, I crossed both the passes in idaho.. Supposed to get a little bit of snow tomorrow, but hoping I'm out of here before that comes
-
I'll be crossing Idaho Tommorow and in to Montanna ... Should make it to billings or close to there tomorrow
