You are 100% wrong about IL. In IL you can carry a gun in a fanny pack, backpack, or even your pocket without a ccw as long as it is in "closable container" and unloaded. It can be in any small bag or box with a zipper, snaps, buttons or latch and the ammo can be in the same container. My p3at fits in my pocket in a closable container.

Maverick allows firearms, all they told me was be careful and mineful of other states laws. So what if he had a firearm on him, this is the United States of America and we are allow to have firearms. I live in IL and foid cards are recognized by many states. Ccw card, well not much and probably need to buy permits to other states.

A driver can have a firearm but since we are in our trucks most of the time a conceal carry card isn't really needed. Not like we are going to walk to walmart and back *cough* I hear stories of drivers getting rob and kill while they're sleeping. The big one was this flatbedder near Detroit who was sleeping and 3 guys came in, stole his wallet, kill him and burn his truck down with him inside.

This minor detail doesn't much matter. But yes any person could be a part time LEO, and a full time trucker.

What does matter is if a person was ever an LEO, other LEO'S will not bother him carrying anywhere in the USA. It's called professional courtesy. It does help for them to carry their former agency ID Card though.

I was going to post the reciprocity map that Y2K mentioned, but he beat me to it.

Right, right and also they won't give him a ticket for small violations, because of the professional courtesy.

But the gun and magazine would have to be legal in that state I believe. Actually let me turn that into a question. You can't bring a magazine over ten rounds into California for any reason can you?

I believe you are correct, but that would fall under proper procedure followed. I have never been to cali so I have not ever looked into their regulations

That is correct, ethos, some small exceptions, I believe if I owned one way back when before the cut off date, so that I still owned one legally, I could exit the state and bring it back in, so long as I retained residence here in state the whole time. Some other small exceptions, LEO, etc, but nothing that will apply to most truck drivers.
