New Flatbed driver, I think I'm being Paid fairly what do you think?

Yeah... I believe I'd be bucking about paying ANY of the fuel unless I sign some kind of mileage guarantee. Especially for 23%. Ask for 40%, and say you'll pay 5%

 

I am running same region, same setup. Earnings are 25% of gross plus driver bonus and tarping fee (generally about 31% of gross total). Busy season 9 months of the year average about $480 per day, expect 4 productive delivery days per week, home weekends.

 

Don't undersell yourself. New driver or not, 1 year accident free and your options begin to open up. Gross percentage is ALWAYS better pay than mileage. Do your time, do the hard work, then decide what you want for your future.

Parking is always a problem. This region at any given moment has 50,000 trucks on the road, only 2,000 recognized parking places for a truck. Develop relationships with your shippers, receivers and neighbors and parking places will be available.

 

There's a lot of wisdom right here. As long as you start out with a liveable income, then plan on sticking it out for a least a year or two. Start building a resume or play "work up" within your company.

You will find that you will have a lot of doors open for you after two years. If you want to step up to heavy haul or take the plunge as an owner operator you will have a couple of winters under your belt and plenty of real life experience to sell.
