having to retake the written cdl test?

    hey there everybody im enrolling into trucking school in about 2 months and only have one main question. i know you have to take a written cdl test at the secretary of state but when i have to renew my cdl do i have to take the test again or is it like your drivers license just simply renewing it leave and carry on?

    Here in PA, you pay the renewal fee, get your picture taken, update any info and carry on. No renewal test.

    That's for a cdl A with tank endorsement. I don't know what hazmat would entail.

    In Washington state, the only test we have to retake every renewal is the hazmat. I would assume that's in other states as well.

    In IL you have to take hazmat every time. They can make you retake the others if you have a bad driving record with tickets or accidents. Clean record no retest
