@spyder7723 lives somewhere down there I believe. FL rates stink but he makes it work. I'm sure he will be along in a bit.
jacquesi23 Thanks this. -
I technically live in MS, but half the time take hometime in AL. Why?

Just curious...I live in Montgomery,Al an was wondering how the freight was mercer freight around the area there or do you have to pretty much get out of the south to get something?
I've heard of guys sitting for days in the south waiting on outbound loads because they didn't wanna deadhead 400-500 miles -
What? No, there is plenty of freight in the southeast. Only time you might have to deadhead that far is if you're in Miami. We have plenty of freight coming out of the Birmingham area, that's never an issue

No matter where you live. You can make it work here. There are several of us that live in Florida and do just fine. Living in Montgomery, you will be golden. Montgomery and Birmingham are excellent locations.

I live near savannah,Ga. We got regular plastic pipe haul out of Montgomery. You got some bad info.

Whoever sits is sitting by choice or lack of knowledge on how to "DISPATCH" themselves I sat in Tulsa for a couple days by choice because my friend live out there and we had plans to hang out. Other than that the golden key to mercer is to PRE-PLAN. By doing so you'll never sit unless once again it's by choice. I've only got enough courage to pre plan myself about 2 weeks ahead. The other vetren mercer guys prob book themselves 3-4 weeks at a time. Theres little details in the learning curve as far as lanes and different agents volume that you'll learn once you figure out how you'd like to run. But living where you live you'll do fine

Is it the contech pipe loads ?
I do quite a few of those now -
3-4 weeks?!! Sheesh!
I'm doing excellent if I book myself up for a week! Lol.
I noticed sometimes booking early comes back to bite you. It's either or for me...sometimes I'll book ahead an sometimes I'll book when I get there.
Ive gotten to certain areas an kicked myself in the butt for booking early an a fresh load pops up an it's paying twice as more an less deadhead...it's like rolling the dice at times.
