The only thing I see unsecured from this story is the back door. You said the load was strapped as well as the jack. Definitely worth a hearing. I see no reason to have been towed off. I'm trying to figure out why you were pulled over in the first place.

Oh, he did and it got him nowhere

Took about three months to get a court date, and about 3 minutes to be found Guilty

The officer claimed that having the door unlatched and open any amount, no matter how little, automatically made it an Unsecured Load. My boss argued the multiple strap angle but it didn't fly. It might've helped our side if we had pictures of how the load was strapped - in fact the judge asked about this, specifically - but in the rush to get the freight rolling out of the impound yard the morning after, neither the boss or I thought of it

BTW I wasn't the only trucker suffering the intense scrutiny - and even more intense fines - of Philly's Finest, around this time. Philly PD was doing roadside Level 1 DOT checks of trucks during the same general time-frame, which happened to be blatantly illegal (State Police or DOT only, from my understanding) and the only thing that made 'em stop was the threat of a lawsuit by the Teamsters
