Did you ever get more fuel in the tanks? With the fuel that low I would be changing the filters re-prime the truck add in some additive (can't believe I just said that). Giver a whirl, if the fuel is to low this time of year it will basically create a sludge in the lines (or gel) the truck will start but will not continue to run. It is basically starving for fuel, this will throw an ECU or ECM code as well.
Truck wont start

Yeah mine did that yesterday, died right when I was trying to make a left turn at the light. Police came and helped direct traffic and called a tow truck. $133 bucks with tax to pull me 100 yards to the gas station. Put in 30 gallons and borrowed their filter wrench and topped off filters and restart. Turns out there's a problem with equalizer between tanks, driver tank had 2 inches and passenger tank had 6 inches.I was on my way to Rogers MN TA to get fuel in fact.
Bear in mind I had bought 430 gallons of diesel coming from Seattle area to St Paul area but I guess I underestimated the amount of idling up in Montana when the temps got into the single digits I guess I burned more than I thought oops.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
If it's not cutting off at idle but it runs some, sounds like maybe the fuel shut off solenoid, on the older tractors you could just wire the plunger open. Don't remember if is has one but if not the priming pump can go out and cause trouble, it can be bypassed but don't shut it down if you do because it is tough to prime by yourself, and surely it would occur at the most inconvenient place
