I thought about it too, but 6 months out of trucking means your pass experience might not matter anymore, to some companies, you're a fresh student so here take this .28cpm we pay students and have fun.
It would be nice to take a month or 2 off, but I like how my resume look with most of the trucking companies i worked with atleast over a year time put in.FLYMIKEXL Thanks this. -
Let me take June-August off

is it possible to deactivate your MC number and insurance and all else for a certain time then reinstate later on, or does that require an insane amount of hoops to be jumped through?
-
if you worked for the same company, and lets say hypothetically you take off 3 months a year, after 4 years of doing this wouldn't it just show as 3 years with that company?
-
You can change the status of insurance or at least I can for a dump truck no MC# just DOT
-
If you are technically still employed, then it will be 4 years, for example medical leaves. Might not get paid when you leave but still have a job to go to.
But voluntarily leaves basically means you quit but good standing and able to be rehired.
There's a post here about a swift driver who did this. Took months off and came back about 4 times. Eventually they stop hiring him back, no employer wants to hire someone who just gna quit a few months later. -
TransAm has or had a couple of drivers that did that.

like at random times when he felt like it? cause I get that being a problem, but what I was more considering was like Jan and Feb each year off to avoid the worst of winter. I mean if you let them know ahead of time your intentions of doing this every year I wouldn't see it being a big enough problem to not hire back over. I don't know. what do you think?
